It is a great work dress because it’s simple but comfortable at the same time. The only thing that is troublesome is the split in the dress. Sometimes it will open when sitting, but wearing a black slip makes it less noticeable. (Apparently, wearing a slip is a thing of the past. One my friends was discussing a cute white skirt that she almost got, but it was too transparent. She asked, “And who wears a slip anymore?” to which I replied, “I do.” sheepishly) Anyhow, I wanted to jazz up my LBD so I added fun accessories… large earrings, a fun purse, and rockin’ shoes. Looking at the pictures, I think I should have attempted ONE bold accessory and not go OVERBOARD on everything. It’s a little much!
I remember stalking this Coach purse. It’s gorgeous with the complement of animal print and suede/ velvet accents and a rhinestone bow. I stalked it until it made it’s way to the Coach outlet and then I NABBED it!!
FYI: If you absolutely love a new Coach purse but don’t love the price, then wait until the new season of handbags appear. The old set will head to the outlets and can be up to 40% off (even the limited editions sometimes). Disclaimer:This was the case around 2005ish so I don’t know if it still holds true!
These Valentinos are one of my faves! The kitten heels make them a breeze to walk in. The pointy toe gives it a feminine look. And the straps and studs make it phenomenal! (Okay, these are shoes you either love or hate. As you can tell, I L.O.V.E. them!) I’ve never worn these to work because they are a little too attention grabbing, but I would love to work in a field where shoes like these are the norm!
Very pretty. I like that dress and I remember seeing that purse in Coach seasons ago. I think there was a pair of shoes that matched/went with the collection that I was never able to track down.
Your friend shouldn’t knock the slip. They’re important under wrap dresses!!
A LBD is an essential in every woman’s closet, and look fabulous in this one! Your shoes are to die for also :) And yes, I still wear a slip too! Heather
Rachael, you have a great memory!! There were a pair of shoes that matched! If only I could get my hands on those babies too! I guess you were on the same hunt too!
And thanks about the slip – sometimes I think I’m a grandma! :o)
Thanks chic chic! I guess I forget about the LBD sometimes because I used to wear so much black that I try to “stay away” from too much black now! (My brother-in-laws used to call me the Black Widow after Jeanette Lee since I wore black all the time.)
Sam, you are so pretty!!! You’re always classy and there’s always a touch of sexy! I love that wrap dress and how you paired it with those sexy Valentino shoes. They are awesome! I love Coach bags, so thank you for the tip…because they can get pricey. It’s an awesome animal print and I love the touch of color! Very unique! HAHA! I have slips tucked away also. I refuse to get rid of them too! Have an awesome weekend my new friend. I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts and appreciate your comments on my blog. Have a fab one pretty lady!
That is such a cute LBD! I love wrap dresses. And I think slips are totally acceptable! Now if Kate Middleton is sucessful in bringing panty hose back, I REFUSE to jump on that bandwagon!
I’ve always been a LND (Little Navy Dress) girl and now I’m slowly adding more black into my closet because it really is such a neccesity. Great dress and love the way you styled it.
Wow, those shoes are KILLER! I definitely also fall in the L.O.V.E. category. And I really love that dress. Like your other one you just posted about, it just looks so simply chic and elegant, effortlessly classic. I can’t believe it’s from H&M- what a score!!
Ahhhhhhhhh you have those shoes!!!!! I wanted them so badly but could not bring myself to buy them because in Chicago I knew my wear would be limited. And yes, you are still right about coach, as times got really bad, mid season the bags would end up at the outlet for about 40% off. Love the dress and so glad you scrolled to see the brian atwood at FNO post!
Those shoes are truly phenomenal, and totally eye catching! I love your coach purse too, that rule still holds true, if you like something in fall, wait until late winter/early spring and go to the outlet and it will be there! Great earrings too!
You look beautiful!!! Those shoes are so, so amazing, I need them!! lol. I also really like your dress. It is so classic that you will be able to wear them for years to come!

Thank you Catherine! Wrap dresses ARE fabulous – because you can adjust them to almost any size (like when I’ve had a little too much dessert)! LOL about pantyhose and Kate Middleton!! Thanks for stopping by! :o)
That’s funny because I was always a LBD girl and then tried to add more navy and other colors in my life!! Thanks for the sweet words definingtabitha! xo
If you are from the older gen, then I am too!! LOL! I feel so much better now that I know other people wear slips too! And thanks for the complement! :o)
Bessie! These shoes were definitely not a logical purchase!! You are the smarter one for not getting them! (I can’t even wear them to work!) And thanks for confirming the Coach deal. I had to stop stalking Coach purses because it got me into trouble!
Hi Elina! I think they look nice with skirts or dresses because you get the full view of the heels! However, Anna Dello Russo does wear them with trousers and looks fabulous! These shoes have such a pretty shape even under pants! See her in this pic: http://www.annadellorusso.com/2010/10/star-system.html
I’ve been eyeing these shoes for a while now, but have never come across my size IRL. Hence, I’ve controlled myself from buying online without first trying them on and see how they fit me.

Love these shoes but want the Red ones!! Do you think that I can wear them with a pair of trousers? or they show their true beauty with a dress?

Thanks a lot Sam!
You’re welcome! :o)

Oh Deux!! You have good self control! I ended up getting them a 1/2 size larger (because of the pointy toe) and they fit well!! :o)
