Hello Friends! Never underestimate the power of a good statement sleeve! This fact I’ve heard reiterated from Ken Downing himself, and I’m so happy the trend continues this season! One of my favorite designers with the BEST statement sleeves is Caroline Constas. She is Queen B of statement sleeves, and I stalk her pieces during sale time!

During my Vegas trip with the gals, my friend found this white off the shoulder top on clearance sale, but it wasn’t her size. Thanks, Katherine! I wanted to resist but those crazy puffy bishop sleeves were calling my closet’s name and it went home with me! Plus, it’s white which was an automatic check. The white top section of my closet is WAY TOO FULL! Note to self: STOP buying WHITE tops!
THE STYLE Rx: Statement Sleeves elevate your jean game in one easy swoop. Anything that is easy and fast that makes you look like a million bucks is a win for me!
During Summer, white is my go-to color for three reasons. First, it reflects the sun and is much cooler, and I’m a sweaty Betty in any kind of heat. Second, it looks very chic and fresh. An all-white ensemble is one one of my favorite “fast” uniforms. Third, it tends to hide the littles’ boogers. Yes, you read that correctly. My kids seem to have an eternal runny nose (I blame allergies and daycare) and snot shows up on black like a snail trail! LOL! So white it is for me! ;)
Then Neiman Marcus had a flash sale for 25% off current pieces, and I nabbed the black and white polka dot top. I’m crazy for polka-dots this season. They showed up on the Fall ’17 runways and have stuck around. Luckily, I have LOTS that are vintage pieces but couldn’t resist this one because of the major statement sleeves and those jovial dots!
Anyhow, I digress. My penchant for statement sleeve tops stems from the fact that they are an EASY way to dress up jeans. Literally, you put on said top and you automatically look amazing! YES to that every. single. time.
Both tops are worn with the same high-rise straight jeans, silver sandals, and bag. The accessories (like jewelry and sunglasses) change each look. I invested in those silver Gucci sandals last year and have gotten a lot of cost-per-wear with those. When you pay full prices for those shoes, you want to wear them everywhere… even to sleep! LOL!

Both of these tops are so pretty! I really love that white one!! I only really have one statement sleeve top but its burnt orange so it’s back in the closet until next Fall, hehe

You have the best eye for statement sleeve pieces! I love them on others but not sure how they’d work on my in real life, I’m clumsy enough and when I tired a little bit of the bell sleeve trend I kept getting the sleeves dirty or torn, haha! I still like wearing the dress though.

Oh girl! Believe you me, I am the messiest! Lol! Mr S is always telling me my sleeve is in SOMETHING! Haha! It’s not even the kids!
Even though it is a little unpractical for me (bc of my messiness), I like the shorter statement sleeves since I don’t mess them up as often! ;)
Amazing! This black off-shoulder top in white polka dots with statement sleeves ideally matches high waisted jeans!
