Hello Lovelies!
It’s been too long! I’ve missed you even though my schedule has been super crazy. Still no baby yet… so nothing new on that front! But you may notice that Style of Sam is no longer on blogspot. It’s official – I’m a dot com {without the blogspot}!
Let me tell you – this was NO SMALL FEAT. It is NOT EASY to migrate from blogger to wordpress.org. {And I’m still working on post formatting issues, so drop me a line if you see something I’ve missed!} The reason why I decided to change over is because of all the great capabilities of wordpress; However, I’m still figuring it all out. Right now, I feel like I bought a Maserati sports car but only driving 40mph on a straight highway. You get my drift?!
Anyhow, I’ve got to take you on a tour of my new blog!
First, a new blog called for a new aesthetic – kind of… I ended up keeping the same color theme because I can’t seem to stray from pink and gold, but I did go for a clean, minimal, but still feminine look. The Bolig Theme from BlogMilk sparked the move to wordpress. It has been heavily customized thanks to the most awesome coding done by Brandi Bernoskie – but more on her later!
Shall we start from the top?
You’ll notice that that the Navigation Bar is no longer under the header but on the tip top! And the search function is also in the Navigation Bar so you easily find fun things!
The Post Titles, Date, and Comments are now located on the LEFT side instead of on top. And there’s a fabulous little ‘SHARE’ button that takes care of kinds of goodies like facebook, twitter, and pinterest – I like how it all neatly packaged into one button!
What do you think of my new profile pop out pic? It’s a photoshop trick I learned from Katrina at Pugly Pixel! Her site is full of photoshop and CSS goodness as well as many other happy things.
There are some gold glitter surprises when you hover over the social media buttons and the categories in The Medicine Cabinet!
And now for the really exciting part – the Maserati engine stuff wordpress capability things… all of my pages!
The FAQs page still exists but is called ‘About’ which is a better descriptive title. Something NEW is my ‘Featured’ Page. Wordpress allows different plugins so I was able to use Catablog to create a nice and neat portfolio. When you hover over each image, it shows the title and will take you to the URL if you click on it! Neato mosquito right? {I’m easily amused!}
Another something NEW is my ‘Shop’ page. If you ever clicked on my previous SHOP page, it brought you to my Store Envy page. Unfortunately, I never got around to updating the shop with items I would purge – I ended up donating most. SO… now you have a chance to check out all the fabulous online things that I am coveting and may or may not purchase!
I am SO PSYCHED about my ‘Contact’ page! You have a choice to click on the link to send me an email OR you can use my super special sequiny and gold glittery stationary contact form! Can you tell how much I love it?! It’s so outta control girly but I couldn’t help myself!
Lastly is my ‘Archives’ Page. Now, you can click through all my posts and they are nicely organized via year, month, and posts thanks to the plugin Smart Archives Reloaded.
The Bolig template was already beautiful, but Brandi helped code all the little details to make it MY OWN. And besides being an awesome coder, she is competing in a National Archery competition. {That means don’t mess with her! Just kidding!} Actually, I mention that because Brandi always responded very quickly despite her very busy schedule AND travels. Many times, she finished the tasks much quicker than she estimated even as I added things a la carte – which was a nice surprise! AND Brandi was sweet enough to answer general questions about WordPress because MOST of it is a foreign language to me! If you need someone to help you with WordPress coding, I HIGHLY recommend her! {Seriously, FIVE gold stars!}
Let me know what you think about the new site {and if you find a glitches or kinks – I’m trying to work them all out!}
I’m out of town for a work function, but stay tuned for…. the April SOS Rx {HERE are the last 3}, a little something from Grandma, some wedding shower fun x 2, and other happy things! :) Love y’all and miss ya!
Update: I finished this post 3 days ago but tried to make a plugin work by adding some code. It caused a “fatal” error on my blog and the dreaded “white screen of death”. Luckily, Brandi was able to help get back to brand new! Hooray! :)
Another UPDATE: If you want to follow me on Bloglovin, then I’ve updated my account — > Follow my blog with Bloglovin You can also click on the heart under social media. I’ve contacted Bloglovin to see if they will transfer blogspot followers to my new site. (THANKS Mica for letting me know!)
