For those of you that just tuned in, From Grandma with Love is a twice-monthly series that is one of my faves! I’m lucky to be the recipient of my Grandmother-in-law’s beautiful wardrobe. She owned so many unique pieces, and I’ve had the MOST FABULOUS time styling it on the blog. It’s a win-win for me because I ADORE vintage and a fun excuse to wear it!

It’s red. It’s buffalo plaid. It’s cropped. It’s not my thing?? Or is it??!! Although I usually LOVE all the pieces from Gma, I wasn’t sold on this jacket right away because of the bold red plaid. (I know I’ve worn it here.) I even tried to give it to my SIL. Luckily for me, she didn’t think she could wear it and it stayed in my closet. I actually adore it now! It’s such a great cropped jacket. Angie thought it was a current piece from Zara! Now, that’s a compliment!
To keep it modern, I wore the cropped jacket with a black turtleneck sweater, black high-waisted jeans, and over-the-knee boots. Black from head-to-toe can be very slimming and is an easy way to let a piece stand out. It’s also my running late trick that I mention every time!
THE STYLE Rx: A cropped jacket is a seasonless staple and brings the eyes upward to add height to the body. (I can always use more inches! LOL!)
When wearing a cropped jacket, keep proportions in mind by either accentuating your waist or balancing it out with a dress (like a maxi). A pleated skirt would accentuate the waist. Above, I wore high-waisted jeans to accentuate my waist. The length of maxi dress balances out a cropped jacket. Since I’m petite, accentuating my waistline is an easy trick to make me look taller. Curvier and taller gals can add a longer layer underneath (like a top/tunic). It’s all about proportions!
How would YOU wear this buffalo plaid cropped jacket? BTW, this outfit would also be cute for Valentine’s Day if you want just a hint of red (the jacket and lips)!
Happy Monday Friends! Sorry, this post is late and not on my usual Friday. One of my BFFs and my goddaughter came to visit last week, and I didn’t get everything done. I’ve been trying to work on blog posts a week ahead but that hasn’t been going as planned! I’m also trying to get more sleep to practice better self-care this year. We had a lovely weekend and it went by way too quickly. Spending time with good friends is such a healing thing.

Oh that is an awesome jacket, I’m glad you kept it and gave it a go in your wardrobe! :) TI does look like a modern piece too, I was wondering if it was another piece in your outfit that was the vintage one!
Don’t feel bad about blogging a little later, time with friends and family (and yes, time to sleep!) is so important!
Hope that you are having a nice start to your week so far! It’s been a bit crazy here as Baby Boy had his first surgery yesterday, eep. Recovering well though.

Oh Mica! Glad to hear that Baby T is recovering well. Surgeries are so scary even when you have great doctors. Hope you get some calm time soon and he feels better quickly. Sending positive thoughts, hugs, and prayers your way. xo
