**Note: I’ve had to watermark all my pictures because they are being used without my permission for ebay and Craigslist listings!!**

Originally, I had a different post scheduled, but I’m obsessed with this line!  Warning: If you are tired of hearing about Missoni for Target, then you may want to skip this post!

Every time I think I’m doing well and coming closer to being super organized and having a well edited closet, a collaboration comes and blows up in my face!  (Translation: I have no will power.)  One of my best gal pals E* got a Missoni dress and matching cardigan for her graduation.  She looks absolutely FAB every time she wears it.  That FAB image is burned into my brain.  So when the news came out about the Missoni for Target collaboration, I was excited.  However, I decided to be a “controlled” excited and not like too many things because my closet is busting at the seams.  And I am trying to stick with QUALITY over quantity.

September 13th got closer and closer and I decided NOT to wake up early to wait in line because I don’t NEED anything really.  (In the past, I was up at 6am for Jimmy Choo for H&M.)  I had an appointment that morning and decided to “casually” check out Target after that.  When I arrived at my local Target, almost everything was GONE!  The employees said it was like Black Friday and things were sold out in 30 minutes.  WHAT?!  That made me panic and I decided to drive to another Target, and then another!  Say what?! Oh yes, I DID go to THREE Targets!  I feel like a crazy person!
As you can see, my “controlled” excitement did not stay that way.  I went overboard on my purchases!  Luckily, I did find some stylish things for Mr. S in my hunt!  So, I’ve decided to keep some and take some back.  (If you follow me on Twitter of Facebook, it’s all over the place!  Sorry!)
I decided to take some quick styling pictures to decide which items would be keepers!  One of my qualifications for keeping an item is that I can make three outfits with it.

ITEM :: Target for Missoni black and white chevron tank dress (seen above)
Left :: dress + Alice + Olivia jacket + Missoni for Target floppy hat

Right :: dress + Walmart cocoon cardigan
ITEM :: Missoni for Target Ruana
ITEM :: Missoni for Target chevron skirt and multi-color v-neck sweater

Left :: Ann Taylor top + skirt
Right :: American Apparel tee + skirt

ITEM :: Target for Missoni chevron dress

Right :: JCrew belt

ITEM :: Missoni for Target Men’s Sweater and chevron tie
Here is Mr. S in action with his new tie on for work!  (He’s shy hence the headless shirt!)

Thoughts and Reviews::

  • Black and white chevron tank dress :: I got a small in the BW chevron dress – it is gapping in the chest area (bc I don’t have much there) but I would say it runs TTS. It’s made of 48% acrylic/26% nylon/26% rayon.  I showed it 3 different ways and I can think of 5 million other permutations with this dress because of the simple shape and color!  KEEPER!
  • Floppy hat and Ruana :: The hat is 100% wool and looks great in both colors. The Ruana is 40% acrylic, 45% wool, 5% rayon and one size fits all.  Do those have to make 3 outfits because they are technically accessories?  I really LOVE hats and that ruana is so cool.  MAYBE?
  • Blue chevron skirt :: The skirt is 100% rayon and has a drawstring waist.  It is a little too big for me but I love the feel and design and can adjust a little with the drawstring.  If you find one size too big, then you may be able to get away with it.  I did 3 quick oufits, although I’m not sure if polka dot and chevron go together!  The white tee and skirt would be great with flats/sandals and some kind of necklace.  KEEPER!
  • Multi-color v-neck sweater :: The multicolor top is 100% polyester (front panel) and 61% rayon/39% cotton (back/sleeves).  It is somewhat transparent so you would need to wear a tank under it.  I got it in size medium and it seems TTS.  It looks great with the chevron skirt and I could wear it with the cobalt blue pants I just got.  Could I wear it with grey pants or a skirt?  MAYBE?
  • Blue chevron dress :: The dress is 78% acrylic/22% nylon. It is lined with a sewn-in slip that is 100% polyester. I found it in XL and tried to belt it.  I really want to love this dress because it’s a colorful chevron.  It’s a little big but I thought belting it might help.  I’m on the fence about this one… RETURN?

Although I was disappointed in myself for losing control, the day ended on a positive note because I had lunch with a wonderful new friend!  Divya is so sweet, amazingly smart (hello, she’s an engineer), very fashionable, does a radio talk show, AND is a blogger!  WOW right?!  You should check out her blog Saved by the Behl (pretty clever because her last name is Behl)!  We are obsessed about this collection!

What are your thoughts on which items to keep?? I need help!

That black & white tank dress is my favorite. It’s super cute on you! I also love how you belted the blue one with a J. Crew belt. They make some fab belts. Really nice post Sam! Have a great day! :)

  5. Samantha says:

Thank you Kim!!  I do like the black and white dress too.  My friend also liked the blue dress belted – so I really need to think about that one!  Have a fabulous day!  :o)

  6. Samantha says:

Good morning Stacey!!  Thanks about the ruana – I don’t have anything like it so I really want to keep it!  That’s really helpful!  :o)

  7. bklynlifestyle says:

Ok reading this totally reminded me of myself. Right now I’m on “Shopping Probation” because I went crazy on Labor Day sales. I promised not to shop at all for clothes until October- and so I pretended like Missoni for Target never happened. Can you believe their website crashed- that shows you’re not the only one who went a little crazy.

Great haul, sometimes sacrificng your willpower for a few great itmes is worth it. Clearly I’ve learned nothing from my probabtion.

  8. Marusya V says:

First of all, great blog Sam! love your styling – nice and feminine!
Second, I envy your Missoni haul…  wish they shipped some Missoni to Australian target too:)
    Stay in touch,
    xox

  9. Divya @ Saved by the BEHL says:

Thank you so much for your sweet words I had sooo much fun too! You look so amazing in all of the clothes! I really feel like (especially in that blue shirt and skirt) you look straight out of a Missoni catalogue! Ahhh I love Target…

  10. sam…oh i am so jealous. i only ordered the throw and still waiting for it to be shipped. i hope target won’t cancel my order. i saw a couple of dress and i really liked but well…good for my wallet.
okay, back to you. wow…you looked absolutely amazing. i liked most of the items you wear…and the way you do your hair and make up…the red lipstick really make you have a glow. the only think i wouldn’t keep is probably the big V sweater (it’s not you..it’s the sweater..)…and i like the blue dress with the belt.

  11. Samantha says:

LOL Liv!  Sounds like you have amazing willpower if you could pretend MfT never happened.  I did that with another collaboration and then regretted not getting a piece.  Oh this fashion and budget thing!  It just kills me sometimes!  It seems like you know when to when (if only for a few great items)!  My friend Divya and I plan on going on a shopping “diet” in October!

  12. Samantha says:

Thank you Marusya!!  If only the evilbayers wouldn’t jack up the price, then others could have some too.  (I didn’t realize Target doesn’t ship to Australia.)
    Thanks for stopping by!  :o)

  13. Samantha says:

Thanks girl!!  That darn Target will be the death of me!  :o)

  14. Samantha says:

I hope they don’t cancel your order either.  And it is better for your wallet that you can exercise control!  (Remember the IM jacket – and I need to try to do the same!)

Thanks for the advice on the sweater.  The more I think about it, the more I feel like I am wanting it for the wrong reasons.  And my hair is a mess!  But thank you – I was running around that day and wanted it out of my way!  I put on the red lipstick because I felt like adding “instant glamour” since I was otherwise so messy!  (But usually I am a little worried to wear bright red lips because it’s so bold!!  Thanks for you help on everything!!)

  15. Kenya says:

Yay!  Congrats Sam ..you mean you “only” went to 3 Targets, lol.  Your  haul is great especially since you were not first in line.  Love all the pieces but especially like the black and white dress, colorful poncho/sweater and the blue skirt!

  16. Jeannie says:

Wow! You too? I’ve been reading about this Missoni for Target and sounds like I was the only one who didn’t get the memo. Oh well…the closest Target is about 2 hour drive for me…boo. Anyway, everything looks fab on you! Love the tie too!

  17. Drspock7 says:

You were one of the lucky ones. I couldn’t get there until the afternoon and got leftovers. I was also one of the ones to help crash the site trying to buy on line. I picked up some socks, dishes, hand towels…but I was able to score two scarves and the little blue belted dress you have as well. She’s def. A keeper. I like the black and white combo. If you can, I say keep it all. It’s def. Worth it and is already 3-4 times as much on eBay

  18. Samantha says:

LOL!!  Thanks for making me feel better Kenya!  (I went a little cuckoo when I hit the first Target and everything was gone!)  And that helps with making a decision on what to keep!  :o)

  19. Samantha says:

Yes Jeannie!  I fell into the madness for Missoni for Target!  There are still some things that you can order online so you don’t have to drive 2 hours!  :o)

  20. Samantha says:

Thanks for the advice Drspock7!  I’m glad you found some things, especially that blue dress!  (And at least you were efficient at a computer and not driving around to Targets everywhere like me!)  It’s really disappointing that so many people bought it to sell on ebay.

  21. Julie Khuu says:

Total Score Sam!  You’ve acquired all the best pieces to mix and match…Our Target(s) were totally ransacked by noon…Bummed but I’m sure I’ll scour something somewhere *crosses fingers*

Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such thoughtful comments, you’re the best!

    xo-Julie
    Peace. Love. LOL!

  22. you lucky lucky lucky gal! I can only dream of getting these because
they’re not available here. *sob* OMG, you look like you’re only in
your 20s in these photos. You look amazing!!!

  23. Samantha says:

Marlene!  You are going to give me a huge head!  (I’m pretty sure it’s the photo effects I’m using that make me look younger!)  Actually, I was thinking of you and your wonderfully edited closet as I was driving from Target to Target like a mad woman!  (You and q9y8 are my idols as far as a beautifully composed closet goes!)  I was wondering if I could ever have the will power and restraint to refine my wardrobe like you.  Thanks so much for the complements!  :o)

  24. Samantha says:

Julie!  I hope do find some things.  I’m hoping that the people who bought just for ebay will be returning items (so others can get it at a fair price)!  :o)

  25. Kristen says:

Lucky you – I tried to order online and nothing was available by the time the website was back up. Love the dresses and skirt!

  26. Samantha says:

Thanks Kristen! Lucky me or CRAZY me for driving around everywhere! I hope people will return items after they don’t sell on eBay! Maybe you can score some items then! :0)

  27. Blstoute says:

Oh, I was driving from store to store. My accomplishments were from two different locals. My order could not go through on my phone and they would not take orders on the phone. I even called a few. Ironically all of the stores only had girl items left. I wondered why they made housewares, womens, men’s and girls but nothing for boys (I have 2). Any who- what did you decide to keep

  28. Samantha says:

Hi Drspock7!  Sorry for the late reply!  I decided to keep the dresses and skirt.  My friend wants to buy the items that I didn’t want since she wasn’t able to get some of the items either.  Hopefully, it works as a win-win! :o)

  29. guest says:

How cute!! What is the size of the strappy dress? You look great!

  30. Samantha says:

Hi!  It’s a size small.  As you can see, it’s pretty short!

  31. jennaebert says:

came across your blog while i was trying to figure out what to pair with my Missoni skirt– thanks for the excellent ideas!

  32. Samantha says:

Thank you jennaebert!!  Glad I could be of help!  And thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog!!  :o)
