So I never got to tell you about TWO awesome things that happened in October… yes, late as usual! First, my friend Sonja got me and Mr. S to attend our first Outstanding in the Field event – SO YUMMY and definitely outstanding!! Second, I was privileged to test drive the 2013 Chevy Malibu for a week!
Outstanding in the Field is a culinary adventure held world wide to reconnect people to their food. Our farm-to-table dinner was served alfresco style at Jolie Vue Farms in Brenham, Texas. This place holds a special place in my heart because it’s owned by the Boudreauxs – such a gracious and loving family. I grew up with their daughter, E*, and I LOVE THEM to death! Outstanding in the Field was an experience, and we want to try the one in Italy next! A gal can dream right?!

Heading towards the amazing dinner like cattle! LOL!
Plates :: It’s a tradition for each attendee to bring your own plate for the table

Mr. S, me, and Sonja :: You may recognize her from here.
My friend E* and her hubby :: You have seen her here and here.
Mr. Boudreaux and me :: He was schooling us on the ways of the free range farm!
Mrs. Boudreaux and me :: That’s the worst picture of me but you can see how much joy I have from seeing the Boudreauxs. She was my girl scout troop leader!
Mr. S ready for the food :: Notice that shirt from here!
a gorgeous view of the field during the sunset
E’s boots :: Everyone in the family owns a bespoke pair!
Last course :: Dessert time with pineapple upside-down cake on shortbread. YUM!
And I mentioned the Chevy Malibu remember?! We did our road trip to Outstanding in the Field (from Fort Worth to Brenham, Texas) in the Malibu. Can I just say it was fab! Chevy has redesigned the 2013 Malibu with style and smarts in mind.
I was blown away by it, honestly. I drive a German SUV (which I LOVE) and my SIL has an older model Chevy Malibu. This car is NOTHING like her older model. The interior is very luxurious with the black/brown leather and wood trim. It has great acceleration – it goes when I press on the gas pedal (unlike my car in which I have to floor the gas pedal and then it sounds like it’s going to explode but doesn’t really go much faster). And the new Chevy Malibu has wonderful features like bluetooth, navigation, On Star with an iPhone app, remote start, USB connectivity and so much more. I mention those things because my car doesn’t have any of those bells and whistles – it’s a base model. At the end of the week, I was actually sad to return the car to the dealership.
I captured some of our trip on video and they’re on the Chevy Girls on the Go you tube channel here! All of my videos are named Sam’s Sweet Ride! You may have seen some of my #MalibuStyle retweets from Chevy.

The malibu looks like it was fun to drive — though I have to say I am feeling a little slighted by Chevy to see all these bloggers collaborating with them while I actually BOUGHT a Chevy earlier this year and I get no love!
Wow that event looks so much fun. You got to eat freshly prepared food out in the field and hanged out with great companions. Gorgeous day it seemed.
Thank you for dropping by. Well i decided to close my old blog without leaving a link because i really want to start fresh and only keep in touch with a few bloogers this time around. You certainly are one of the few. I have just finished catching up on your blog and learned that you have started an adoption process, wishing you and your hubby best of luck and for a speedy process too. I heard it can be long but i am sure it is totally worth the wait and hassle.
What a fabulous idea for dinner. I bought some carrots recently, harvested from a small farm and boy, I’ve never tasted anything like it. I’ve gotten so used to eating tasteless mass produced food that it was a shock to discover that raw food could taste so good!
The Outstanding in the Field event is brilliant! It looks like so much fun and like such a great dining experience! A true farm-to-table dinner is something I must do!
The Malibu has surely come a long way! My dad had one from 2001 and I remember a few years back during the holidays where Chevy did a program at the mall I worked and they had the new Malibu’s as shuttles since people parked so far. It drove like a DREAM! Does the new one have the “handbag compartment?” I remember thinking that would be a big sell for me LOL.

LOL Alyssa!! You know, I didn’t see the handbag compartment – but I could have been completely blind! I was wowed by all the techno gadgets!!
