Can you tell? I’m completely obsessed with velvet – velvet tops, velvet dresses, velvet everything!! I found this dress on a whim when I was on the hunt for some jewelry made by my sweet and talented next door neighbor, Sienna, on a “quick trip” to THREE Fort Worth. I should know better by now that quick trips to my local boutiques never end well for my wallet. I found some tassel earrings, a jumpsuit {seen in this post}, this dress, and a painting! Yes, a painting damn it!

Anyhow, I digress. I’ve told you that a velvet is one of the major trends for Fall right? It IS, and I’m all over it. I totally LOVED it in the 90s and so happy to be wearing it again. Luckily, I’m somewhat of a hoarder and still have a velvet blazer from 2000 {seen in this post}. If you don’t have any velvet, then I suggest you find at least one piece for the season!
THE STYLE Rx: Elevate your Fall look with a little bit of luxe by adding a velvet piece. Go for accessories (like a bag, boots, or headband) if you aren’t sure about going all in. But, you know what they say in Texas, “Go BIG or go home!”
This dress is such a beautiful gold color, and the velvet adds another element of luxe. The faux wrap is very flattering, and hooray for sleeves! It’s basically good on its own, but adding some fun accessories (like the drop earrings or gold necklace) make it festive! It’s a perfect holiday dress, and I plan on wearing it to one of Mr. S’s work parties.
You know I love versatility! Although I’m glammed up in these pictures, a velvet dress can be dressed more casually in booties and a moto jacket or thin turtleneck underneath. A little holiday dress can be your girl boss outfit later on!
Happy Monday Friends. Retail Therapy. It’s a thing, right? Lately, I’ve been out of sorts and a bit stressed out. I’ve been eating Tate’s GF Double Chocolate Chip cookies like they are going out of style. However, I’ve also been shopping online with time that I don’t have.
My friend passed away, and I think that it’s my way of dealing with grief. She wanted her life to be celebrated, and so that’s what I need to keep in mind. I know she wouldn’t want me moping around, so I’m picking myself up by the bootstraps and thinking about the wonderful and full life that she lived. <3

Ooh that dress! Such a fun piece! I love velvet too! I haven’t bought any new pieces but I still have some velvet blazers because I never stopped wearing it, haha.

Oh Sam I’m so sorry to read about your friend, truly. I can’t imagine what you’re going through. I know it wasn’t out of the blue, but I don’t think that makes it any easier. I’m really sorry. I was going to comment on that beautiful dress, but wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and your friend’s family. Take it easy, do whatever you want to or need to, grief is a funny thing.
