Happy Monday and Happy Lunar New Year Friends!  We are back from our little trip to Napa, and THAT PLACE is amazing. My friend, Elizabeth, correctly summed it up as adult Disneyland or Paradise. I kind of wish we were still there except that we were missing our Little M.  We are so thankful for my mom who took care of Little M so we could have a babymoon before the chaos of adding a second one to our family starts!

I am beyond excited to share this post with you… for THREE reasons.  First, my entryway is actually FINISHED after a year and a half of ho-hum. When we moved to this house, I tried to recreate certain rooms if they worked with dimensions and architecture… out of sheer desperation.  This was my first experience moving with a child, and everything takes three times as long to finish.  Normally, I’d try something new or rearrange when I have an opportunity, ESPECIALLY in a new home.

Second, Minted is the perfect place to find the artwork needed to tie all of my other pieces together.  They carry works from a community of independent artists from all over the world.  It’s funny because the Opus print that I fell in love with is actually from a local Dallas artist, Katie Craig. Minted approached me about a collaboration which was the perfect impetus to get started. I’m in this “purging and organizing” phase using the KonMari method to finish the house before Baby Number Two arrived.

Third, I’ve teamed up with Minted to share a $150 giveaway for y’all!  Whoo Hoo!  All you have to do is enter your name and email. It’s that SIMPLE and you’ll be on your way to hanging gorgeous art in your home OR sending beautiful holiday cards.

In the first pic, you’ll see that each Minted piece comes with an artist card telling you more about where they’re from and what inspires them. For the entryway, I chose the matte brass framed Opus print and then purchased frames for the Paris Skyline and Composed art prints to add variety for the gallery wall.

This bombe chest was the FIRST real piece of furniture we purchased after moving to Fort Worth in 2008. The majority of our home was furnished with hand-me-downs, and I found this French gilded piece at an estate sale.  I was hooked! BTW, you can read about my estate sale secrets here.  The chest was the focus of our last entryway, and I wanted the same for this house.

Then, I purchased a very PURPLE and somewhat pink rug from HomeGoods.  I liked the fact that it was dark and made of polyester/viscose to withstand the traffic of an entrance. (I’ve given up on wool rugs for now because of Little M and our two remaining furkids who have been gifting of us with “surprise” urine from time to time.)  Additionally, my MIL gifted me a beautiful vintage painting for my birthday. I loved the colors, but not the frame, so I took it out and placed it on the chest.

Don’t let me forget that chair project!  That beautiful gilded navy and cream chair was completely transformed from the broken brown and tan being it was once.  Mr. S told me to throw it away. Luckily, I didn’t listen to him and it’s now stunning!

So, here was a beautiful brown and peach marble chest, purple rug, navy chair, and pink-ish painting in my entry. They are all wonderful pieces on their own but didn’t jive in my entry. Enter Minted where I was able to find gorgeous art pieces to tie everything together.  The Opus print has pink, indigo, and blue which partners with the floral painting, chair, and rug.  As most women, Paris holds a special place in my heart so the Paris Skyline was a no-brainer in my cart.

On my Pinterest board, I have a wonderful graphic on how to display art in your home. I used that as a guideline and then played around with the actual artwork on the floor to determine how it should be displayed. After deciding on the configuration and taking a pic on my cell phone (my memory is shot), I traced the silhouette of the artwork onto newsprint.  (I recycled a few pieces from a previous project if you notice the folds on the paper.)  Additionally, I marked where the hanging wire or hooks were on the newsprint.  Then, I taped the papers on with painters tape to make sure I liked the spacing.  When it was set, I nailed right through the paper, on the marked places, and then removed the papers.  It takes a little longer up front to trace and tape but then hanging is a cinch!!  Voila!!  (I’ve also used 3M hooks for smaller projects, but I didn’t want to take any chances with the heavier paintings.)

So, that’s it!  Thanks for letting me sharing my happy little entryway with y’all.

**And don’t forget to enter the Minted + Style of Sam Giveaway for $150!  It runs until February 14th, and the winner will be announced around the February 16th!  May the odds ever be in your favor!**

Thank you Mica! We kind of stressed about that piece of furniture bc it was a first “big purchase” after we moved, but we’ve had it for almost 8 years now and I still love it. So I’m glad we decided to get it. At the estate sale, it was pricey so I put in a bid for 50.5% of the price and we were lucky enough to win it!

And that piece of artwork was a life saver! It ties everything together! Mr. S gets really nervous when there are so many colors but the art makes it work!
