Awhile back, I received a Hana Pro Flat Iron from Misikko to review.  It was sent to me BEFORE le bébé, and I’m just now getting to post about it!  If there is one thing that you should know about me, it’s that I’m a loyalist.  Once I find something I like, I stick to it!  For example, I’ve been using Bare Escentuals mineral makeup since 2003.  Bluebell will ALWAYS be the best ice cream in the country!  And I am a die-hard CHI fan… until now!

I did want to use it for awhile before I made THAT statement.  Although it’s a straightener, I ACTUALLY use it to curl my hair!   {See above pics! Hair done with the the Hana Pro.  And if you need the how-to, see my you-tube video here!}

PROS:

  • It seems silly, but the fact that it has a normal plug is fantastic.  Now that part of my bathroom counter space is a changing station, I have limited outlets.  And NOT having to unplug something to plug in my straightening iron is one luxury that I enjoy.  {We have a heated wipe warmer, electric toothbrush, and I use a blow dryer sometimes too!}
  • The swivel cord is nice because it actually WORKS.  I feel like my CHI iron has one but it doesn’t move.
  • Like the CHI, it does have a blinking indicator light so you know when it’s ready  to go.
  • You can use it on dry and DAMP hair – I have yet to try to damp hair thing.  Honestly, I get kind of nervous about it!
  • It comes with a leather pouch and heat proof silicone mat.  I had to buy a storage pouch for my CHI.
  • As far as aesthetics, I DO like the beautiful blue ceramic-tourmaline plates.
  • I like the temperature adjustment – I’ve found the perfect setting for my hair!

CONS:

  • If anything, it is a little pricier than the CHI at $130.  However, you get the cases (I got 2 – a slim one and leather) and the silicone mat with it.  When I purchased my CHI iron, it was around $100 and my vera bradley case was $30.  So I consider it a washout.

Would I purchase this? YES… if you want the best hair straightener!  And you can find lots of fun hair and beauty tips and advice on Misikko’s facebook page!  Psst… they also do giveaways!

Disclaimer:  The Hana Pro flat iron was provided complimentary by Misikko.  All photos and opinions are my own!  :)

  1. I’ve been using a Chi since the 7th grade… I’m a creature of habit but maybe it’s time for a change?!

    It sounds great! I need to get myself a new hair straightener so I can use it to curl my hair – mine is great for straightening but it’s so big and bulky curling is too frustrating.

  3. Sounds like a fantastic flat iron!

    Hi Sam,

    I haven’t been blogging much due to a new job and out of town job training. I just saw that you have a new arrival and I’m so happy for you! Congratulations on your new son. What a wonderful experience for you and your family. Wishing you lots of joy and happiness.

  5. I am definitely in the market for a new flat iron! I have never had good luck with any, it seems. I go through them fairly often.
    I am curious about this one. – what is the highest temp setting on it?
    Thanks, Sam!

    • Sam says:

      The highest setting is 450 – which is supposed to be for very thick, healthy hair according to the operating instructions.
      230- thin, fine, or fragile hair
      302- chemically treated hair
      370- medium, normal, or easy to straighten hair

      Hope that helps! I really like it! :)
