Happy Monday lovely friends!! Hope you had a wonderful weekend! After some random severe weather (like tornado sirens blaring on Friday night), we enjoyed gorgeous weather on Saturday and hung out all day. On Sunday, Mr. S and I worked on some house projects FINALLY! We have some beautiful pieces from his Grandmother, and we’re trying to make room for the old and new! I did a quick DIY with an old shopping bag by framing it. (You may have seen on Instagram.) So fun right?!
When I don’t have time to “think” about an outfit, I reach for my uniform – a tee, blazer, jeans, and heels. The blazer and heels give the outfit a polished look. BONUS if you have a pretty piece of jewelry to throw on like this fabulous one-of-a-kind necklace by AK Designs. My talented friend crafted it from a 1920’s Eisenberg Original fur clip hand wrapped with gold-fill wire with labradorite and pyrite beads. I LOVE that it’s a mix of old and new just like my closet and home! A necklace like this would be perfect for Mother’s Day. Hint hint!
The Style Rx: Top off a tee and jeans with a blazer and heels. You’ll look freshly pressed even if it takes you less than 5 minutes. Wearing monochromatics (the same color family) steps up your game especially if it’s white or black!
Another “uniform” for workdays is a dress when I’m running late. There’s no matching required! Just dress, shoes, and go! What’s your go-to uniform?!

Thanks Liv!! What’s your go-to outfit?!!
Cute! Any tips for modifying for the brutally hot Texas summers? Don’t think I can do a blazer. Also what shoes would work besides heels? I don’t think I can carry my babies while wearing heels :) I guess I’m asking about a “summer uniform” but something that still looks put-together and stylish.
Tyler! Thanks for taking the time to comment and what a great question!! After Little M was born (July/Aug), I tried to look chic in a hurry by wearing maxi dresses. You can wear them with lower wedges (or flat thong sandals) to safely carry the babes around. I wore no arm jewelry but did wear some smaller necklaces/earrings. And cotton/linen scarves are another great way to accessories (or hide stains – LOL)!
Also, I found some great linen pieces – like a linen cardigan from JCrew (in this post: https://styleofsam.com/2012/08/05/cars-and-coffee-weekend-2/) or a linen blazer (if it’s a little chillier) as a great layering piece for the summer!
Hope that helps!! :)
Thanks!
Cute outfit!

Thank you! xx
I like your easy fashion formula! I don’t wear it often byt jeans and a blazer is a great combination I admire so much on others like yourself Sam :) I got all excited when I found another Zara blazer, like my black one but in cream…of course it got wet in the Sydney storms and so now I don’t know what to do with it, poor thing stinks. even after spending the day outside in the sun to dry. I was looking forward to wearing it, have had to re-think all my outfits for this week haha. Somehow none of my other blazers seemed as right, haha.

That’s so sad about your cream blazer! :( Maybe, you can do an interior spot test with some febreze to get out the smell! What a bummer!
But you’ve been looking mighty cute with your blazers for “corporate world”. Cream is such a great neutral color so I hope you’re able to get that one smell free!!
Thanks Sam! I absolutely drenched it in Febreeze – didn’t think to just test some first oops. Luckily there were no bad effects. but it still smells bad. Since it’s already got wet and not shrunk I might just wash it,even though it says dry clean only.

I’ve totally washed things that were dry clean only!! Sometimes it turned out fine but sometimes not! Hopefully, your blazer will make it!! ;)
Can I just take this outfit off of you and onto me? LOL Jeans and a tee are what I live in :)

This is an awesome go-to outfit, I love that it’s both classy & casual. I wish that I could wear heals around the city more, but I tend to wear them down within a few excursions. One day when I own a car maybe that will change.
