Still feeling a little patriotic after Independence Day!  This would have been a GREAT OUTFIT for the 4th of July, but I didn’t pack my white jeans because I was pretty sure they’d be UN-white after running around the city with a baby!

The Style Rx:  Pair a busy top with white bottoms {jeans, shorts, skirt} in the summer or black in the winter.  It keeps the outfit simple but fresh.

I scored this beautiful floral top and earrings after our lunch with People Style Watch fashion director, Kate Dimmock, at the JCPenney’s Headquarters.  What a treat to hear about her different experiences in the fashion world!  I’m always so intrigued by what makes a person who they are and how they’ve gotten to their place in life.

Kate was kind enough to share her first interview experience at Vogue.  She said that she wore an Ann Taylor suit (because that’s what she thought she should do) and met the editor who was head-to-toe in Comme des Garcons.   (For those of you that don’t know, Comme de Garcons is a Japanese fashion label that is VERY FASHION FORWARD with their cuts and shapes.  Think of The Jetsons but in a good way!)  Anyhow, she welcomed her by saying, “WELCOME!” and Kate replied back, “WELCOME!”  I laughed out loud, only because I did the EXACT SAME THING during a pharmacy school internship interview that I was nervous about.  The interviewer named George said, “Hello!” and I replied back, “HELLO!  I’M GEORGE!”  Luckily, I still got the position!  :)
