Before the Race: {We’re so fresh and so clean!}
After the Race: {At least we’re alive!}
Bottom | Alo women’s workout capri {in blue here and similar here}
Material: 87% Nylon/ 13% Spandex
This capri was great and cleaned up nicely! As you can see in the pic, it can get a little baggy in the crotch area. If you don’t get the correct size, then it can definitely be a problem if you’re bogged down with water and mud. Make sure it fits snug!
shoes | New Balance Minimus MT10 {here}
I’ve had these shoes for over 6 months. I wear them regularly to work out {ie Cross Fit} and they are absolutely AWESOME!! They have vibram soles and feel like you are barefoot. They have such a great grip.
As you could see in the pictures, this headband stay put like it’s named!! It didn’t budge through out the whole race! The underside has silicone ridges that keep the headband in place and really grip your hair {but not in a bad way}!
My friend Sonja introduced to me and Mr. S to CrossFit, and we started doing it a year ago. Besides getting us into physical shape, it changed our lives by helping me and Mr. S grow closer together. It’s something that we do together. And it has given me a confidence that I never realized I had – I push myself a little further every workout. By no means am I an athlete, but I have attempted things like olympic lifting, hand stand pushups, and pull ups. Remember, I am NOT adventurous or athletic naturally! The Super Spartan Race was another life changing experience for me. I’ve never had a desire to run a marathon or do ANYTHING like this. I was sure that I was going to take the “gracious” exit at 3.5 miles but I felt good so we went on! Aroo! Aroo! Aroo! Thanks for going with me on my journey!
Great pictures and what a fun thing to do! I would have been freezing my buns off lol.
OMG Samantha what an amazing thing to do- you’re hardcore girl! Looks like it was so much fun- I’d love to do something like that one day :)

WOW. Amazing. I seriously have no other words… as i can not in a million years imagine the nerve it would take to do something like this, since i am not naturally athletic or athletically competitive. at. all. way to go!!! you need to frame one of those photos!
Great job Sam…you have to really reconsider saying “I am NOT adventerous” because you just proved that you are!!!

I’m just in awe of you, Sam AND your hubby and friend. You guys look so fit. I’m ashamed of myself. Time to get my butt off the chair and get some exercise. I just love all these photos. What an amazing thing to be able to do with your hubby.
WOW! That is absolutely INTENSE!! Congrats on not just finishing, but going after it!
You rock! This is so cool that you did this and finished! You looked cute doing it too :) “I am woman hear me roar”
you did awesome this weekend!! you are strong, courageous, and athletic. you faced your fears and conquered them. you just needed something like the Spartan Race to bring it out :)
Oh goodness, congratulations! This looks INTENSE! I’ve done a few 5k mudruns but never anything of that distance, wow. Thanks for the Minimus review, I’ve had them on my radar for awhile but wanted a review of them before getting them.
OMG – that looks awesome Sam. Very intense but seems like great exercise. I would love to do something like that one day.
And I must say even with all the mud and sweat, you still look beautiful Sam! How do you do it ;)
THANK YOU so much for all the sweet words!!! xo
@Leticia – I was surprised my buns were NOT freezing off! LOL!
@Liz B – Thanks chica! I still haven’t signed up for BBC, but it’s on my list of to-dos for today!
@Bravoe Runway – That is Mr.S! I was sneaky and posted these pictures with him!
@Kenya- Touche! You are right! Maybe I should say “I am a little adventurous”!
@Sonja – Thanks for encouraging me to do this! I can’t believe I finished, but I know it was because of you and Mr. S!
@Cara – The shoes are awesome. Just ease into them if you are a runner because of the minimal heel.
these are sweet photos! sounds kind of like tough mudder which i know some people did around the tristate area a couple weeks ago :)

you are so awesome! love your poses in these pics, and looks like you had an amazing time while doing good for your body! :) i admire you! :)
Wow…Wow…you are either the craziest chick I know or just about the coolest; I think the latter. I am in awe of what you did and the fact that you finished is the cherry on top of the cake. Awesome work my dear, if only I had as much courage and strength. :)
Major props, girl – people’ll still be digging me out of the mud pit if I tried this – you are awesome!
That is soooooooo AWESOME!
You make mud look good girl!
xx THE CHEAP
Oh, how fun!! That’s awesome, girl!! I can barely run 3 miles without obstacles. lol
@ Chocolate, Cookies, and Candies- Marlene!! Don’t say that about yourself. I am just happy that I could finish it – it was grueling! We were in a rut (him with work and me with the baby thing) so we started working out together, and it was very good for us. It helped us better cope with things.
I am cat. :3 Facebook Twitter
WOW! congrats and go you! i would never be able to do that. i looove the photos of you all covered in mud – priceless. xx
wow, that looks intense! actually, way more than intense! i think it’s amazing that you guys were able to participate in that — great job! :)

Sam, I saw the before pics, but never saw the after! YOU GO GIRL! HAHAHA One of my friends did this and had a great time. I don’t think I would make it, so I applaud anyone for trying. I love the outfit that you wore. That purple is so pretty. Girl, as soon as they would put that number on my head, I would’ve been out of there. You 3 are AWESOME!!! Thanks for sneaking in the pic of your hubby. He’s a cutey!
