I was having a conversation with one of my coworkers and shared one of my philosophies about getting dressed for the day. Happy dress = HAPPINESS! I dress for how I WANT to feel in the mornings, even when that morning seems blah. When I go about the rest of my day, I’m “dressed for success” in happiness so to say. {BTW, what goes on during the morning before work is a mad rush to get everything together which is usually why I’m wearing a dress (no matching) that makes me feel happy and put together.}
The Style Rx: Dress for happiness by grabbing a “happy piece” in your closet! What makes you feel like a million bucks? WEAR IT and go on with your day!
I wore this outfit to meet the designer, Nanette Lepore, at Neiman Marcus. I was so tired and really nervous (I’ve been a fan of her since forever) that morning. This floral skirt always makes me smile, and I feel really confident when wearing it… so voila! The skirt went off the hanger and on to me with a bow-front blouse for a brunch.
My coworker had never really thought about dressing in this way. What about you? Do you dress for happiness? What’s your secret weapon piece in your closet?
Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things. – Walt Disney

DOLCE AND GABBANA bow front blouse via Last Call {similar save or splurge} || TED BAKER floral skirt (old but similar save or splurge from TB) || earrings {similar} || VINTAGE, BELLARGO rings || LANVIN FOR H&M bow heels (old but here is pair for sale) || CHANEL bubble quilt bag (found one!) || PRADA baroque sunglasses
I know what you mean, when I’m having a bad morning (or week) I put on my favorite pieces and I instantly get a boost! Oddly enough, my skinny jeans are one of my happy pieces, and fun shoes! Ha ha

I think that’s a great way to dress! (And I love this skirt too BTW)
If I’m having a bad day I tend not too put too much effort into my outfit haha. I usually end up wearing something slouchy so I’m comfortable, but it doesn’t always look the best!

Great advice! Totally agree.
Nanette is such a sweetheart! I saw her last week too. She’s been very nice to partner with a charity with which I’m involved.

Thank you Carrie!
And she is so personable! What a great partnership to have on a charity!
That’s why I love fashion :) It can change your mood. I definitely dress up if I’m feeling sluggish. Love those heels!
