Hey Y’all! It’s been awhile since my last “What’s in My Bag?!” post, and this time I’m sharing the small Chanel Boy Bag. Yes, I’m restarting this series too! LOL! I met this cute girl, Kelly, in the Nordstrom Cafe line. While we were waiting for our coffee, she asked me about my Chanel Boy Bag and a light bulb went off! Hello Sam, restart your bag series!
SIZE and PRICING
This is the SMALL shoulder bag in calfskin leather. Current retail cost is $4300. It is a small flap purse with a chain and leather adjustable strap which can be worn single (as a crossbody) or double (as a shoulder bag). When opened, there is one large compartment and a slim card pocket. The dimension is approximately 7.9” W x 4.7″ H x 2.8” D. For reference, I am 5’4″ {but usually wearing heals}. This size fits what’s minimally needed.
The strap is set to the shortest length which makes it a 21″ drop from top of the handle to the top of the bag (when worn long) and 12″ drop when doubled. I am able to carry it on the shoulder or switch it to cross body without any issues.
AESTHETICS and CONSTRUCTION
The bag is a classic beauty! I LOVE the combination of black with gold hardware. The gold has an aged look similar to brass which makes it modern. The black calfskin is very durable and I haven’t noticed any scratches at all! (I just did another check to be sure.)
The interior is a black grosgrain type material which picks up lint pretty easily. Just and FYI!
With the price tag and history of Chanel, you expect superb construction. This bag lives up to that, and it still looks brand new after owning if for 2-3 years now. One of my friends had the medium Chanel Boy Bag, and her bag started to sag in the middle. I don’t know if that will be an issue since this bag is so small, but only time and use will tell.
FUNCTIONALITY
For a small capacity bag, it holds the necessities. My slim wallet card, iPhone, lipstick, keys, and sunglasses fit easily. Sometimes, I carry the sunglasses without the case to keep the silhouette slimmer.
The clasp is very easy to open (squeeze both sides at the same time), and I’ve never had trouble getting items in and out of the bag. Apparently, that is a major complaint about flap bags.
Because of the chain, it can be considered heavy but the small compartment size keeps it from being overloaded.
SOS RATING
FIVE GOLD STARS {out of five}! This is my FAVORITE Chanel bag, and I have vintage and newer ones. It’s such an iconic bag but still usable which is probably why I LOVE it so much. It’s definitely an investment piece, but Chanel bags keep their value or go up in price!

I love this series, yey! While the boy bag will be a dream for me for quite some time I do have that similarly shaped Rebecca Minkoff I love, haha! Doesn’t stop me drooling over this beautiful though – it’s such a cute and compact little bag.

My mum often comes to help while hubby is away on business too – I’m so grateful for her. It’s funny to think our kids might be relying on us in the same way in future! Hopefully I learn a bit more from my mum before then though, still so much I have to learn!
