Hi Friends! I am SO EXCITED to share this Target Style denim review with y’all! What do you think of the 14-days of jeans?! I don’t know if you can guess which is my favorite pair… they are SERIOUSLY on repeat lately. The boyfriend jeans take home the trophy for jeans of the year! Second place goes to the high-rise flares (what a surprise, right)! Third were the slightly distressed mid-rise jeggings, and in last were the high-rise dark rinse skinnies.
So here’s the low-down on each pair of jeans…
BOYFRIEND JEANS // I have been on an eternal search for boyfriend jeans ever since my last pair were retired (from a un-repairable tear on the back seam) last year. I bought a pair on sale (see here), but Mr. S called them “mom jeans”.
The box of jeans arrived from Target and… cue holy grail music… the first thing I saw were the distressed boyfriend jeans!!! I tried them on right there and then, and it was LOVE at first sight and wear!! I’ve been wearing them non-stop as you can see in the video collage. I even wore them to help a friend move. Not joking. For real. The distressing on them is amazing, and has gotten a little more “distressed” since washing and moving i.e. ripped. You’ll see the progression on the video. I feel like some kind of cool chick with these BF jeans, and everything I wear seems like it’s just that much edgier. Maybe, it’s some kind of crazy Target denim high… but I feel it!
BTW, these jeans were a little too long so I cut the hem (measuring against another perfect length jeans) with scissors. They are a frayed finish hem originally so it was no deal big deal. Also, I cut it about an inch and a half longer to account for folding the hem.
HIGH RISE FLARE JEANS // It’s no secret that I LOVE flare jeans, so I was ecstatic when a pair of HIGH-RISE flare denim were in the box. Flares are super easy for me… just wear and go. I feel most at ease in a pair of flares and wedges – that combo makes you look long and lean. And the jeans are a mix of cotton/spandex so there’s some stretch i.e. you can go a size smaller for a slimmer fit. I especially love the denim on denim ensemble and the off-the-shoulder + flare ootd. After a two week trial, I’m surprised that the flares weren’t my faves, but the BF jeans still have my heart.
MID RISE JEGGING // I counted and actually wore these jeans the most in my outfit flipagram. These are very easy to wear because 1) the distressing is minimal but enough to give it interest 2) the length is PERFECT 3) they are a cotton/spandex mix so very easy to move in ie. run around with Little M. These jeggings are the perfect everyday pair. I know because I own TWO pairs that I’ve purchased previously (in a different wash/finish). See here and here. Obviously, these are a staple piece for your wardrobe!
HIGH RISE JEGGING // I wore this pair the least, and not because of the fit. They were very flattering on, but I wasn’t crazy about the dark wash. It’s likely due to the fact that it’s the dead heat of SUMMER in Texas, so I am looking for “lighter” denim. These are fantastic for wearing with heels because they are the perfect length. Although they are high rise, they didn’t cover my belly button when I wore it with that black asymmetrical crop top. So that was a little disappointing, but the high rise flares don’t either… so I really can’t complain too much. Again, these are a cotton/spandex mix so they have a nice give. But again, they were no match for the boyfriend jeans.
BTW, the outfit I’m wearing in the pictures are what I’ve been wearing on repeat – a white tee + BF jeans + white sandals +/- a hat.
