Last month, Joanne of The Status Jo and I had a fun filled evening meeting designer Levi Palmer of palmer // harding (more on that later) and watching the movie, Dior and I. If you haven’t seen it, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it if you have any inkling of fascination in the fashion world. It’s an inspirational, intimate, and organic look at Raf Simon’s first haute couture collection for Christian Dior as new art director (replacing John Galliano). As a hopeless romantic and dreamer, I am completed obsessed with the movie as it has a truly magnificent ending.
Because the premier was during the Film Festival at the Angelika Theatre in Dallas, the director Frédéric Tcheng and the supremely elegant and eloquent Jan Strimple hosted a special Q&A session after the showing. Frédéric has no fashion background whatsoever, but his view point was incredible. It tooks three years for completion with the majority of the time spent editing. Initially, Raf was very adverse to the idea of this documentary, but it’s not apparent when you watch the film. I can go on an on about it… but you really should see for yourself!
The Style Rx: ONE. Dior and I, the movie. Go see it. Period. TWO. Shirt dresses are the best! They are perfect for work, but so easy to accessorize for a night out. Here, I kept it simple with statement earrings, a waist bag, and strappy sandals.
BTW, if you haven’t met Joanne, she is my high school mentor student for this semester! I’ve been so privileged to direct her towards a career in fashion editing by helping her start her blog, The Status Jo. You should hop on over to her blog to say hello!
