For those of you that just tuned in, From Grandma with Love is a twice-monthly series that is one of my faves! I’m lucky to be the recipient of my Grandmother-in-law’s beautiful wardrobe. She owned so many unique pieces, and I’ve had the MOST FABULOUS time styling it on the blog. It’s a win-win for me because I ADORE vintage and a fun excuse to wear it!

I wasn’t lying about the Neiman Marcus Spring Trend Event inspiring me! Does this look similar to one of the Eighties looks?! I meant to share this dress with y’all last year, but you know how it goes for me! It’s a beautiful empire waist dress with a sleeveless mock neck velvet top and metallic brocade on the waistband and skirt.
THE BOOK (Neiman Marcus’s catalog) shows a mix of sequins and casual wear so I applied the same to this dress! Wearing it with a moto jacket gives it a cool, modern, edgy vibe. Remove the jacket and it’s back to traditional elegance with the fur stole.
THE STYLE Rx: Pair sequins/metallics with denim or leather for a fun take on dressing UP your casual wear (or dressing DOWN your evening wear)!
This outfit is perfect to wear to a party (be it a holiday or special occasion). A shorter dress could be worn with sneakers and denim jacket for a daytime look. I’m all about wearing sequins any time. Life is short friends! Have fun with fashion!
Happy Friday Friends! Hope Y’all had a great week! One of my friends/past coworkers let us know about a lion dance happening tomorrow. If the weather is nice and I’m feeling brave (since Mr. S is out of town and I’m outnumbered), then I may bring the kids!
I’ve been so tired lately even when neither of the kids wakes up at night! I’ve noticed that I’m more irritable with the kids if I haven’t gotten enough sleep so I’m trying to balance sleep with getting things done. It’s no easy feat. If you have any pointers, then please let me know!

Oh this is a stunning dress! It does look so modern too, like you said it looks like it was made for the upcoming season! I love the leather jacket with it :)
No tips on beating tiredness sorry! I don’t do coffee so I’ma zombie if I don’t get enough sleep, but I’ve never found a quick fix solution yet, aside from sleep, ha! I am trying to get better with knowing when I’m needing sleep more than getting things done. Sometimes I have lots to do but it’s been a tough day so I’m too exhausted and better off sleeping early. Other nights I’ll stay up a little later to get things done, although I try turn the computer off around 10pm!
