It’s FRIDAY!!!  Are you ready for the WEEKEND!!  I’m always ready, especially if there’s good friends and food involved!  Last weekend, I had the pleasure of hosting a Blogger Brunch at Del Frisco’s Grille.  If you follow me on Instagram, you were probably wondering about my #MeatUpDrinkUp hashtag last weekend.  That’s what it’s all about people!  ;)

We had a choice of mimosas topped off with fresh berries or a build-your-own Bloody Mary.  Can you guess which one I chose?  HELLO… the Bloody Mary fixins’ had BACON!  Then, we moved on to amazing appetizers… ahi tacos, risotto cakes, and some amazing deviled eggs {with truffle oil}. YUM!  Finally, I stuffed myself to the max with the banana & mascarpone stuffed french toast.  Hey, it’s the weekend right?  #TreatYoSelf  BTW, Del Frisco’s Grille serves brunch on Saturday AND Sunday.  HOORAY for Brunch!

Besides the phenomenal food, I had the MOST FUN getting to chat with all of the lovely ladies!  These are the blogger babes that attended…{in alphabetical order} Amanda Marie of Amanda Marie Blog, Amy of The Blissful Bee, Brooke of One Small Blonde, Heather of Style by Fluent, Lauren of Blue Eye Brown Eye, Lindsey of A Pilot’s Wife, and Tanya of Film Fashion Fun.  It’s a mix of Fort Worth and Dallas gals who blog about everything from fashion, lifestyle, design, and even a calligrapher within the group.  You should really hop on over to each of their blogs!  You’ll thank me later!

This post is sponsored by Del Frisco’s Grille.  Thank you for supporting brands that support this blog.  All photography and opinions are my own, of course!

Don’t ask me why I’m doing a nursery reveal when my little guy is almost a year old!  Nothing like selling your house to get you motivated right?!  Anyhow, we had the basics done when the little one was born.  I just needed to add the finishing touches.  So VIOLA!  It’s done… and NOW we move!

Just in case you missed it, I did a baby inspiration post before my little man arrived, and most of this room is the fruition of that post.

Gender Neutral // Since we weren’t sure if we would be blessed with a boy or girl, we painted the room a neutral and cool grey, something soft and classic.

Art, Patterns, and Texture // I LOVE the play of different patterns, colors, and textures.  We found the sage green patterned rug at Crate and Barrel on sale.  Since it was 100% wool and rather itchy, I layered a Flokati rug on top.  To add lightness in the room, I changed the bed linens to this white duvet cover from West Elm.  It’s white but not too plain because of the seersucker design.  Etsy is one of my FAVE place to find great art!  The key piece in the room is that gorgeous print from Emma Lawrenson.  It has the perfect balance of feminine and masculine colors and tied everything together.  The mamma and baby elephant graphic is so darling.  We got Little M a felt bee mobile because he loved the “welcome home” decor that my sweet SIL put up in the house, which included hand-made bees!  The pieces that mean the most to me are made with love from friends and family.  My best friends, Elizabeth and Michelle, made that canvas with the quote, “Not flesh of my flesh, Nor bone of my bone, but still miraculously my own.  My love my child is infinite.  You weren’t born under my heart but in it.”  I LOVE it.  The little boy praying cross was made by Mr. S’s uncle.  And the Brooklyn Bridge photography was shot by my cousin, Bryce.  He is SO TALENTED!  Not pictured is a hand knitted blanket from my BFF, Mashawna.

Lighting // I found this fun chandelier at Lowes, which is almost IDENTICAL to the IKEA Knappa lamp.  Lighting helps to finish the room.  It’s the “final touch”!

Crib // I was OBSESSES with the Ouef Sparrow Crib, but NOT the price.  The alternative that I found was the Babyletto Hudson Crib – Simple, Modern, and Safe.  It converts to a toddler bed so we will be able to use it for awhile.  {It was around at the time, but this Ti Amo crib has the same modern look.} Mr. S and I discussed whether or not we should get “forever” furniture that would “grow” with our child into adulthood.  We felt like this was good for our current lifestyle.

Rocker // It’s not a glider and Mr. S really doesn’t like it at all!  Because we were limited on space, I felt like it was a good alternative.   And throwing an Ikea rug on it makes it so much more cozy.  You’ve seen some pics of the little guy on it.  HE loves it!

Dresser/Changing Table // Since Little M’s nursery doubles as a guest room, I spruced up a very “adult” dresser by changing the knobs out for a sweeter look and adding a changing pad on top.  I still LOVE those owl knobs!   Little M’s next room will be his own, so he’ll be getting a new dresser.  I’m thinking about the matching Babyletto dresser!

The Little Things // In the crib, there is a convertible monkey blanket/backpack.  I had purchased two of those from BARNEYS years ago when my nephew was born hoping to have it for our baby on the way.  My nephew is in first grade already!  Crazy how things go but we are SO GRATEFUL for the miracle of our baby boy!!

I guess I’ll be doing an infant room reveal after we move to the new house!  Happy Wednesday Friends!

WE CLOSED!  ON THE HOUSE!  LAST FRIDAY!  I can’t believe it!  It’s official!!  Remember the last time I wore this jacket?  It was for our adoption interview.  This should be renamed my only-good-things-can-happen-when-I’m-wearing-this-jacket jacket!  I mean come on… it has feathers!  :)  Anyhow, we are still in transition since we are trying to sell our current home.  Can’t wait to start moving!!

The Style Rx:  Pair “classic” and “casual” together for an effortlessly cool look.  Shredded denim + classic blazer = Tres magnifique!  Don’t you love fashion math?!

Stayed tuned for a nursery reveal and Blogger Brunch Recap later this week!

everydayrxballetflats

// wearing my fuchsia tieks //

I know. You’re thinking… “You DON’T wear flats on the blog!”  See, this is EXACTLY why I’m doing an Everyday Rx.  I actually wear flats quite a bit, especially at work or when I’m running around with the little guy.

As with my other obsessions, I have quite a variety of flats.  They suit me for different occasions… kind of like jeans.  Awhile back, I wanted to minimize my wardrobe and have only 2 pairs of jeans.  IMPOSSIBLE to do for myself.  Anyhow, I digress…  These are the brands of flats that I have used, own, and adore.

Repetto // These have always been my standard go-to flats.  I have them in black and brown exotic and even have ankle boots.  They feel like you’re wearing nothing – the leather is extremely thin and so is the sole. They don’t have any support, so you may need to add an insert if that’s a thing for you.  However, I just love them… probably because they’re French and the French look good in everything!  They even make your feet look pretty in flats. That sounds like a weird thing to say, but I have very wide feet.  I avoided flats for the longest time because they were very unflattering to my wide feet and made them look kind of like duck feet. {Not that I don’t like ducks and their feet… I just don’t want duck feet.}

Repetto Picks:

MIU MIU // Now when you think of jeweled flats, MIU MIU should be the ones that pop into your head.  Have you heard my princess shoes story? Well, THESE cap toe jeweled flats are what I wore to work when a doctor asked me if I had princess shoes on.  I guess in hindsight, can you blame him?  These are the most bedazzled and jeweled flats that I’ve ever seen!  I also have a pair of green jeweled flats.  In reality, they are beautiful but not the practical {for work in the hospital}.  And the elasticized back tend to rub my heels.  But oh, how I LOVE these flats.

Other bejeweled ballet flats:

Ann Taylor // I love these Skylar flats!  Besides being comfortable, they do make quite an impression with the gold cap toe and heel {last seen HERE and HERE}.  The metal detail elevates them and make them my dressy but professional flats!

Ann Taylor Picks:  BTW, Ann Taylor is having 50% off Full Price shoes!  No code needed!

I LOVE these foldaway flats…

Yosi Samara // I have the studded T-strap ballet flats.  They are the perfect mix of feminine and edge.  And it goes without saying that they are SO COMFY!!

Yosi Samra Picks:

Tieks //  I’ve been wearing my fuschia flats NON-STOP lately!  They are a thicker leather but so soft and extremely comfy.  And I like the signature turquoise soles.  Additionally, the split sole make them so easy to walk in but ALSO fold in half.

Other gorgeous Tieks:
