Luxe for Less // SheIn White Ruffle Lace Dress Review

When I was on a girls’ trip earlier this year, I wore a fun statement top (seen in this post) for a birthday dinner. My roomie loved my top, and I explained it was “inspired by” a designer top. She found out about my blog (we met on the trip!) and told me to do a “look for less” post, and this blog series was born!

I’ve heard about the SheIn for awhile wanted to see what all of the hype and chatter was about! Kate did a great video review on her experience, and that made me want to try it out for fun. I purchased of four really cute pieces, and they gifted this white ruffle lace dress in exchange for a blog post.

SIZE and PRICING

If this dress looks a familiar to you, it’s “inspired by” the Self Portrait Military Cape Dress. I LOVE Self Portrait’s beautiful clothing, but their cost always makes me think twice about purchasing even when on sale! Enter this beautiful lace dress for $28 versus the cost of the Self Portrait dress for $395. That’s less than 10% of the designer price.

I am wearing size small, and the body fits well. The sleeves are a little long as you can see in the photos, but it makes an elegant statement. It is definitely SHORT, so be aware. I’m 5’4″ and this hits right at mid-thigh.

You MUST READ the measurements to get the correct size instead of ordering your “usual” size. Also, pay attention to any reviews or pictures in the style gallery as those can help you guide with sizing and how the product actually looks on a person.

CONSTRUCTION

It’s actually nicely constructed, and I am impressed with the pleated detailing on the back. The white material is somewhat transparent, and so you would need to wear nude undergarments and/or a slip depending on your preference. As I mentioned in this post, I cut any loose threads.

SHIPPING and RETURNS

Okay, so I paid $1.90 for expedited shipping which is the processing time (3-7 days unless marked “priority” then 1-3 days) + expedited shipping (4-7 days). I purchased my items on April 19th and received them on May 11th. That’s DEFINITELY not fast shipping when you’re used to Amazon Prime!

With this gifted dress, I was informed that there was a delay because their warehouse was relocating. For my purchased items, I did receive an email on April 30th apologizing for the delay and that they would credit me with 500 SheIn points for the inconvenience. However, I just checked and that was never done.

Returns seem somewhat easy, although I haven’t tried it personally. I paid a return premium of $1.99 (otherwise it cost $5.99 after the fact). You would go into “your account”, find the item, and click the “return item” button. Then you would affix a label to the package and send it off. Refunds are processed 7 days after items received. Again, I can’t personally speak about the return process since I haven’t tried it.

SOS RATING

THREE GOLD STARS {out of five}. The actually dress is pretty high up there on my rating, but the whole shipping experience took away from the rating. Shipping would probably be faster now that the warehouse move is complete, but beware if you are ordering for a specific event and ensure enough time. The dress is so cute that I’m considering it (versus this one) for Baby MJ’s Baptism!

Have you heard of SheIn? What are your experiences? And are you one to go for a “look for less” piece?

Happy Monday Y’all! Hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day weekend! We just hung out with family which is always the best!
