The quest for the perfect little black {insert whichever current object needed here} seems never ending. However, I checked one thing off my list. For years, the perfect black skirt has eluded me until I found this skirt. And now, I’ve been happy as a little lark!
I love this skirt because of the color, fabric, cut, and length. Black is a simple and great neutral color. The fabric has a great texture that gives it an extra something. The fullness of the skirt helps to balance my broad shoulders and lack of a waistline. And the hemline is appropriate for work but still playful enough for casual outings. {In fact, I wore this outfit to work a couple of weeks ago.}
I mention black because that is my neutral color of choice, but your perfect little skirt could be navy, grey, brown, or even yellow. As a confessed black-aholic, I’ve been trying to wear other neutral colors like navy and grey. The key is finding the shape that works well for your body! Here are some rules of thumb {and please feel free to add more in the comments}:
- An a-line skirt tends to be flattering on everyone. They can hide wider hips or highlight gorgeous legs!
- Skirt hems that hit at the widest part of your calf can make your legs look shorter. Wear hems above or below that area.
- A pencil skirt can help straight figures look a little curvier or accentuate already existing curves. I LOVE pencil skirts!
- A mini skirt can make shorter gams look long and lean if worn correctly.
- Try wearing wedges under a maxi skirt to elongate your silhouette.
