It’s time for another edition of Quick Tip Tuesday! This time, Jelita asked for styling help with belting but loosey goosey {for those of us who don’t feel comfortable accentuating our waist}.
The rules that seemed to work with loose belting and a cardigan:
1. The cardigan should be at or below the belt line (when the belt is sitting on the hips).
2. The cardigan is worn over the belt.
{Keep in mind, I’m am not an expert! This is just my humble opinion.}
Here, I have a Tucker for Target dress that really doesn’t have much shape until a belt is added. I belted it on my hips. Notice my hand is placed right below my natural waistline. (I chose a short sleeve cardigan because of the larger sleeves on the dress.)
dress :: Tucker for Target
cardigan :: Target
belt :: ? from mom
shoes :: Stuart Weitzman
earrings :: Anthropologie
Here are two other outfits for demonstrative purposes. The foundation is a tunic. The belt is right above my hips. And the the cardigan falls right at the belt line. I like this look a little less (when the cardigan is shorter).
tunic and cardigan :: CABI gifted from MIL
cropped pants :: Limited
belt :: RL (from Marshall’s)
shoes :: Chanel
necklace :: gifted from mom
earrings :: Premier
Last one! Here, the foundation is a jumpsuit (and conveniently the elastic falls at my hips). The belt is on my hips. And the cardigan/vest is much longer. {Mr. S calls these my ninja pants!}
jumpsuit :: Anthropologie
belt :: gifted from mom
vest/cardigan :: F21
necklace :: H&M
shoes :: Dior Extremes
Hope this helps for those people that want to belt it, but loosely! Until the next Quick Tip Tuesday!
