It’s Friday!! This is a great way to end the week – on a BRIGHT note with my psychedelic maxi dress!
{You know I couldn’t have a blog post without at least one photobomb with Franklin!! Haha!}
I love maxis because they are comfy but still look like you made an effort. Just add some accessories and shoes, and you’re all set! This super fun and hallucination inducing dress was a gift from my mom {last seen here}. It’s random because she got it at a shoe boutique, so she also gave me some foot cream with the dress! LOL! And a lot of the accessories are special to me – the earrings are from my cousin Iris, the chevron necklace is from my cousin T*, and the hand necklace was purchase this year at a resale shop around Chinese New Year. It was $6 and has a dragon on it – perfect for this auspicious year! Those sandals are a souvenir from my mission trip in Nicaragua!
This week has been an extension of last weekend – extremely busy. Thank goodness for the weekend. On a serious note, two of my closest friends have recently lost a loved one. It’s a sad but important reminder to let your loved ones and family know how much you care and spend quality time with them.
But let’s end with happy thoughts. I’m so pumped because I found my volunteer home!!! YAY! This year, my Junior League placement was at the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB), and I mentioned an awesome program called Cooking Matters last year. Leave it to me to procrastinate and finish all my volunteer hours in the last month. However, it was fortuitous because I was introduced to our TAFB Community Kitchen! It’s the production kitchen that prepares food for distribution to the agencies that service the 13 surrounding counties. AND it also serves as the location for a free 16-week culinary course for qualified low income individuals. During the last 2 weeks, the students are placed at an internship. Many local restaurants, bakeries, and hotels participate as internship hosts, and a lot of the students are hired after their internship!!! I’ve met so many amazing people in just this week!! Isn’t that a WONDERFUL program?! Although I will be done with my TAFB volunteer hours after May, I will continue to volunteer there on a regular basis because I feel so passionate about this program. YAY for my new volunteer home! :)
Sorry, I’m so verbose today! I don’t know what happened! {…maybe too much coffee…} Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
