Ten Things I Learned from My Kids for Mother’s Day

When you are a mother of two little ones, you just never know how the day will turn out! I usually plan ONE thing to do for the day. It can be a chore, like grocery shopping, or something fun and kid related, like going to the park. Everything else that gets done is a bonus!

Time management, among other things, has really been a struggle for me as a first-time AND second-time mother! Lack of sleep doesn’t help the situation because I am less efficient at whatever task I’m trying to accomplish. I stress about that ONE or seven things that need to be done in a day, but I need to be grateful to have these two darlings bless my life! Anyhow, all of this is to say that the littles are schooling me in what life SHOULD be about!

  1. Every morning is a new beginning, and you should start the day grateful and joyous! – Baby MJ
  2. Seize the day and make it what you want, whether it’s Sushi Sunday or Oatmeal Thursday. – Little M
  3. Drink lots of water. I seem to drink coffee as water. Thank you, Baby MJ for this reminder!
  4. Sometimes, it’s okay to cry. – Little M
  5. Chew (or gum) your feed completely and take your time. I’ll remember not to inhale my food! – Baby MJ
  6. Almost everything can be solved with a good hug. – Little M
  7. It’s perfectly acceptable to say goodbye by blowing a kiss. – Baby MJ
  8. When reading books, take the time to notice everything, not just the words. – Little M
  9. Smile A LOT! – Baby MJ
  10. Love the day so much that you don’t want it to end (and try to stall bedtime). – Little M

Thank you my little ones for helping me to remember how precious life is and that being a mother is everything I’ve ever wanted (even when I’m exhausted)!

For this day, I planned a trip to the park with a picnic lunch! Baby MJ is teething, so she has been chewing on everything including those Halo mandarin oranges. You should see some of the sour faces that Angie caught on digital film when she bit through the skin! LOL! Then, we visited the duck pond. Of course, I forgot bread so we fed the ducks Baby MJ’s puff cereal! We steered clear of the geese. They are very aggressive, and I didn’t want them chasing after us! Mr. S made the mistake of getting too close to their territory, and they literally chased him away!

For the picnic, I brought along my Fossil tote filled with the essentials (diapers, wipes, change of clothes, water bottle, wallet, makeup) for a change from my heavy diaper bag. It’s a coated leather, so it’s durable but light weight. Plus, the straps are interchangeable so you can customise it to your liking!  I kept the same straps but added lots of bag bling – luggage tag, tassel charm, and social stickers to interior pouch!

THE STYLE Rx: A chic and functional tote is great for mom duty and work days! Plus, a little tassel never hurt anyone. I have them on the bag and my sleeves and shorts!

I’ve used the tote as a laptop bag too, and it can be embossed with initials. Pretty and practical! It might be nice for a mother that you know! Just sayin’! Use code MOM25 for 25% off women’s product at Fossil all this weekend!

BTW, isn’t that matching top and shorts set so fun?! Of course, I found it at my fave boutique BEEHIVE! I think they are selling out quickly so order online or call for availability. And a blogger friend, Lauren, wore a similar romper to an event last week! So now you know about two versions of that fab blue graphic print!

Happy Friday and Happy early Mother’s Day! What are y’all up to this weekend? I don’t think we have plans, except for church on Sunday, so I’m SO EXCITED to do nothing! :)
