How to Wear Double Denim + $1000 Nordstrom Giveaway

Hey, Friends! Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to wear denim. Double it! Why not wear a denim off the shoulder top and distressed Mom jeans together? Denim on denim is also known as the Texas Tuxedo or Canadian Tux. Yes, it’s that good! LOL!

The fabulous thing about double denim is that it’s “easy” to match and usually looks pretty chic when you wear one color or material head-to-toe. In this outfit, I’m wearing an off the shoulder crop top {last seen here}. To keep it modest (no belly buttons here), I wore it with high-waisted mom jeans. The mild distressing ups the cool factor of “Mom” jeans which have been my favorites lately!

THE STYLE Rx: Double denim is still a thing and can be worn elegantly. Try wearing your denim jacket as a top (coming soon on a post) or switching out jeans for a denim skirt. Have fun with it!

Here are a few DO’s and DON’Ts to wearing denim on denim:

• DON’T be afraid to mix or match shades of denim. Match denim for a sharp outfit {as seen here and here} OR mix for a dressy casual ensemble.
• DO Accessorize! Accessorize! That’s always the name of my game. Go for luxe accessories (and NOT boleros or cowboy boots) for an elevated look.
• DO distressed denim! (It’s doesn’t have to be holes. Fading counts!)
• DO wear it with confidence! :)

FIT DETAILS: I’ve sized up on the mom jeans for a more relaxed fit (wearing size 27, normally size 25 or 26). They are by the LA based brand, DSTLD (pronounced dis’tild) and have become my new favorites. It’s luxury denim without the markup! Additionally, that Lipault saddle bag can be worn cross body or top handle (as shown).

TIPS FOR THE UPCOMING NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE

In case you haven’t heard, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is coming up! This is when everyone goes bananas (me included) and scores a ton of great pieces for Fall. Last year, I did a dressing room diaries preview with Heather at Nordstrom Northpark. This year, the kids and I are tagging along with Mr. S for a work trip in Seattle when Early Access starts. That’s Nordstrom motherland, so I’m hoping to score big! :)

Here are some tips to help you navigate the sale and get the best deals before they sell out!

1. Get a Nordstrom Card so you can start shopping during Early Access (starting July 13th). Plus, if you are approved before July 9th, then you get a $20 Nordstrom Note! #whodoesntlikefreemoney
2. Peruse the Anniversary Sale Catalog so you have an idea of items that you are targeting. I have a wishlist in mind!
3. Stock up on basics. I wore my PJs, moto jacket, and jeans to death! Those are truly beneficial for cost-per-wear!
4. If you are even questioning an item, get it! You can always return it if you change your mind. Last year, I waited 2 days to “think about” these Frame jeans, and my size sold out online. Luckily, a super helpful Nordstrom SA called the store in Hawaii, and they shipped the last one!
