She walks into the room, and all eyes are on her. Is it her dress? Her bag? Her shoes? It seems like that would be the obvious answer, but it’s not. It’s her CONFIDENCE!! I always say that your best accessory is your confidence. And today, we are going to talk about how to dress with confidence which will make dressing every day easier!

KNOW YOURSELF

Do you like tighter fitting closer or the baggy look? Are you petite or tall? Are you game for any fashion trend or do you stick with the classics? YOU know YOU the best! If you are wearing something that is uncomfortable, then it will show in your demeanor. If you wear something that makes you feel like a million bucks, then THAT will also show!

What makes fashion so fun is that you can try different clothing, but it isn’t permanent like a tattoo. If it doesn’t work for you, then take it off! Try something different!

Sometimes it takes awhile before you figure out what really works for you, and that’s okay. Personally, I went through a phase where I wore only black, and my brother-in-laws called me the “Black Widow” so I decided to change things up and try some color. LOL! Look at me now!

FLAUNT YOUR ASSETS

If you’ve got it, then flaunt it! This goes along with “Know yourself”. Do you feel like you have a great neck? Wear v-neck or off the shoulder tops. Maybe you were gifted with legs for days? You have the option of wearing leg-baring skirts or lengthening pants. If your arms are your best asset, then short sleeves or tanks may be your thing. Petite women may want to wear vertical stripes to create a lengthening look versus horizontal ones.

Side note: Ken Downing (former fashion director of Neiman Marcus) said that a woman’s shoulder never ages and off the shoulder looks AMAZING on all women. I noticed that he is correct!

THE STYLE Rx: Know yourself! Flaunt your assets! Get color coded! Wear what makes you happy!

GET COLOR CODED

Find the colors that work well for you and make you feel vibrant and the best version of yourself! There are lots of color theory and color matching for skin tones that tell you to only wear cool colors if you have cool undertones and the opposite for a warm skin tone. I believe that you can wear any color but have the find the correct shade to compliment your skin tone.

There are color analysis consultants that do color draping to help you find the shades that work for you. I have not tried one but have a lot of trial and error in my own dressing!

WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

This part is so much easier said than done! There are all these “fashion rules” about what to wear when, and what’s on trend, and blah blah blah. I honestly don’t believe in any fashion rules! If you FEEL GOOD then you LOOK GOOD! It’s just that simple. When you wear what makes you happy versus what the fashion forecast is telling you is on trend for the season, I guarantee you will feel amazing. This is one of the key points of how to dress with confidence.

Part of my manifesto is “Dress for how you WANT TO FEEL”, and I truly stand by that statement! Dresses are something that make me happy, and I feel like it really shows when I wear them!

Let me know in the comments if this resonates and works for you!

FASHION FOR GOOD: A portion of sales made from the blog are donated to The Net Fort Worth, a registered 501(3)c nonprofit organization working for a world where girls are not for sale. They believe everyone is WORTHY of the chance to rebuild their lives and support survivors of sex trafficking with education and empowering them with job training and dignified employment.

I hope these tips help you with how to dress with confidence. I recently did an Instagram campaign with The Outnet and wanted to show you the beautiful dresses that make me FEEL CONFIDENT! I feel like I’m letting you in on a little secret! The Outnet is Net-a-Porter’s little sister!  What I mean is that she (The Outnet) gets her older sister’s (Net-a-Porter) hand-me-downs from the past season. That means designer pieces for desirable prices. I talk more in depth about sister companies in this blog post, “How to Shop Designer Pieces Like a Pro”.

All of the dresses are by Zimmermann, an Australian luxury brand, well known for its “sophisticated femininity”. However, their beautiful clothing is just quite expensive, plainly stated. The Outnet carries this line and so many other designers at a discounted price. It is still pricey, but maybe a little more tolerable for a special occasion! The Outnet also carries designers like DVF, Missoni, Chloe, Isabel Marant, and so many more!

Happy Friday GlamFam! Can you believe I did two posts in one week? I haven’t done that in ages! Anyhow, I had such a wonderful and inspiring week after attending The Net FW Survivor Leadership luncheon. I have modeled for The Worthy Co and truly believe in their mission and learned so much more at luncheon. Our keynote speaker was Rachel Thomas who bravely shared her story of overcoming sex trafficking, and it wasn’t what I was expecting. She was in college and lured into it by a person who said he was a modeling agent and seemed legitimate until it was too late. Then he threatened the safety of her parents and that is how it started. I feel so strongly about the organization and wanted to share a little more about them. I’ve mentioned them before on the blog but will be doing a more in depth blog post about them soon!

Anyhow, I hope you have a wonderful and safe Labor Day weekend! Wishing you the best until my next post! xx

Thank you so much for stopping by and supporting SOS!
