For those of you that just tuned in, From Grandma with Love is a weekly series (now more like every two to four weeks) that is one of my faves! I’m lucky to be the recipient of my Grandmother-in-law’s beautiful wardrobe. She owned so many unique pieces, and I’ve had the MOST FABULOUS time styling it on the blog. It’s a win-win for me because I ADORE vintage and a fun excuse to wear it!
This outfit is a bit out of control, but I’m kinda loving it! I’m wearing an Irish linen dress, fur-trimmed coat, hat, and handbag from Grandma. The weather was chilly, and it was the perfect time to take advantage of her cold weather pieces. Technically, linen is for summer. However, this dress weighs about ten pounds on its own so I considered it cool weather appropriate. It’s a beautiful oatmeal color, and the browns in the fur collar and hat are a nice complement. With the coat and hat, I’d be right at home in the blistering cold of winter of Russia!
Each of these pieces on their own is a classic. The oatmeal dress, bonus that it’s linen, is a great neutral color to wear for any season. I can’t wait to wear it with a colorful scarf in Summer. The wool coat is seriously warm, and the same look can be acheived by attaching a fur collar to any basic coat. The fur hat is pretty over-the-top, but I have serious hat love and wear one any chance that I get! The handbag is a great shape, and I chose to wear it as a clutch for an “updated” look.
THE STYLE Rx: Stick with the classics, and you can never go wrong. They are timeless (as evidence above) and will grow with you throughout seasons and life phases.
