WHAT WE DID IN LA
We stayed at The Beverly Hills Montage Hotel (where these pictures were taken) which is absolutely gorgeous and within walking distance of lots of great shops and restaurants. They offer a Rolls Royce for local transportation, and we definitely took advantage of it making us feel like celebrities getting dropped off in front of Mr. Chow! ;) We also dined at The Ivy, Cecconi’s, and Catch – all of which I would recommend! Cathy’s daughter, Alex, recommended them and she knows the cool places in LA!
I could go on about shopping, but I won’t! One of my favorite stops was Alice and Olivia because their storefront is SO FUN! (We have one in Dallas, but I haven’t been yet.) I may have purchased these rainbow slides during that visit! Also, I was in makeup/cosmetic heaven when we visited Violet Grey! What a beautiful place. I wanted to have my makeup done in their fab makeup room, but we ran out of time. Maybe, next time!
Our last order of business, literally, was the brand meetings. We met the founder and designer of Callidae, an equestrian lifestyle brand. Harriet was so gracious and invited us into her home to have a southern-style smorgasbord of berries, whipped cream, cookies, and wine as well as preview her collection. Think of her brand as the American Hermes, and she has the best athluxury pieces. She is very well known and respected in the equestrian arena, but her pieces aren’t limited to that!
They are all made in America, and I’ve worn them just running around with the littles. My favorites are the team jacket (a cotton bomber jacket with cool grosgrain ribbon stripes down the back in my Aggie Marroon!), the zip up sweater (which we all got and is a super soft cotton/cashmere blend), and the show shirt (which fits SO WELL and has an interchangeable ribbon neck closure which you can also leave off). I’ve given y’all a preview on my Instagram Stories and will add them to the highlights.
For our last brand meeting, Heather set up an appointment at the Rachel Zoe office. We met her team, toured her office and design space (so gorgeous – also in Instagram Stories highlight), and played dress up with her latest collection. That was SO fun to do with the gals! I am OBSESSED with the white jumpsuit that Heather wore and need it in my life! We finally met Rachel Zoe at an event that night! LOL at my ecstatic face and her fierce face (on the highlights)! It’s hard for me to be cool as a cucumber when you’re next to RZ!
We headed back to Dallas the next day. I was sad that our trip was over but really missed the kids and Mr. S. It was nice to have the luxury of that LA trip but… back to #momlife! LOL!

WHAT WE WORE // LOOK ONE
When Veronica Beard came out with this pink blazer and tracksuit pant set, I had to get it! Who doesn’t need a power pink suit, right? Remember my chat with the Chanel makeup artist and the power of pink? Plus, it’s my favorite color. And technically, you can actually wear a suit 30 different ways according to Rachel Zoe.
She correct! I actually wore the pink blazer with the hoody dickie, a graphic tee, skinny jeans, and sneakers to travel to LA! And it would be perfect as a topper for any Spring/ Summer dress because of the bold color. Just push up the sleeves to give it a less formal look.
The CABI bralette is so well made and has adjustable shoulder straps. It’s not the traditional bralette in the sense that you can wear it as a top. Even Heather commented on how flattering it is!
THOSE pants! I love the side-snap track pants especially because of the high-waist, and the bottom part can be unbuttoned to show off your shoes. BTW, I need to get them hemmed so I can wear them with a regular tee and sneaker too!
I’ll have to think of 26 more ways to wear the pieces! LOL! But don’t the gals look fabulous?! We are so colorful in pink, white, and green!

WHAT WE WORE // LOOK TWO
You saw this look in my post about caftans! I love a good caftan/maxi dress, and it’s all about the accessories to direct the final look – casual, classic, glam, or edgy! I chose GLAM for this look by mixing metals, wearing my hair straight, and wearing “soft” sunglasses.
My vintage Chanel necklace was definitely an investment piece, but it makes quite a statement since it’s a significant piece of jewelry. Most don’t even notice the double CC until a closer look (which I like). Being a simple “gold chain necklace“, it’s so versatile and can be worn with dresses to office wear to casual. See how I wore it here in this post!
The rose-colored aviators were a purchase last year, but add a retro and cool vibe to any outfit. They are a bit oversized, but are considered “soft” sunglasses since you can see my eyes through them! That’s another trend for the season! I’ve worn them in four other posts – here, here, here, and here!
And of course, my Gucci bag and Gucci heels are always on major repeat. They are investment pieces also, but I have gotten my cost-per-wear plus more with those pieces!
