Dinner with Katia Beauchamp of Birchbox

When I got the invite in the mail, I felt like Cinderella getting an invite to the ball!  Me?!  Intimate dinner with Katia Beauchamp… of BIRCHBOX?!  I RSVP’d right away.  I would HAVE TO figure out how to go (even if I had to fly my mom up to take care of my baby boy – just kidding… kind of).

with Betsy of The Dallas Socials and Katie of Birchbox *super awesome peeps*

with Katia Beauchamp of Birchbox *definition of lovely and amazing*

THE PLACE:  We met at Sissy’s Southern Kitchen and Bar in Dallas. It turns out Mrs. Beauchamp has some family in the area – lucky for us DFW folks – and she wanted to meet her blogging peeps! Hurrah!

THE FOOD:  Nothing says Southern comfort like jalapeño cornbread, biscuits, and honey butter.  Oh yes, and our dinner choices…  fried chicken with mashed potatoes or shrimp and grits.  Hellloooo yumminess!  I got the shrimp and grits.  Dessert was Better than Sex Chocolate Cake and I can’t remember something else.  My choice – pretty obvious.  The ONLY problem with Sissy’s was that I could NOT stop stuffing my face!

THE PEOPLE:  Yes, I’m a little biased about Texas people.  Katia has some roots in El Paso, Texas, and now some of her family is in the DFW area.  Of course, she is SO SWEET and as hospitable as I imagined a Texas gal would be!  When you meet people like her, you understand why her company is so successful.  She’s a bonafide genius – why didn’t I think of Birchbox, super nice, and gorgeous!  She invited us to visit the Birchbox office any time we’re in NY.  And I got to meet some other local bloggers, not just fashion bloggers, as well as part of the awesome Birchbox team, and Skirt PR.  It was a FANTASTIC evening out for mommy!  :)

THE MORNING AFTER:  We left with a goodie bag from Sissy’s and a Birchbox surprise!  Honestly, I’ve been afraid to subscribe to Birchbox. It’s not because the idea and product isn’t FABULOUS!  It’s because I have a problem.  Hello, my name is Sam and I’m a product junkie.  I have a huge product cemetery in my bathroom.  Now actually THINKING about my problem, a Birchbox subscription could HELP me so I could TRY before I buy and not add more to the cemetery.  Ah yes, the problem with loving too many things!

hello sugar cookies and jalapeno jelly from Sissy’s!

my Birchbox goodies!

So do you Birchbox?  I’m really excited to try these samples especially the Kerastase Elixir Ultime and Stila Stay All Day liquid lipstick!!  Will update y’all soon enough!  Until my next post…
