Hi GlamFam! Chic and comfy shoes – Do they exist?! This was a requested topic on my survey, and I am excited to delve into it with y’all. I actually researched this topic for myself years ago for work. I was on the hunt for the most comfortable shoes for work! I searched for the best shoes for walking and standing all day because why do we have to sacrifice comfort for style?

Walking miles on the hospital floors in pumps wasn’t working for me anymore and I needed to find a better solution. I am a heels gal through and through, but I was willing to try anything else at the same time. I’ll take you through some of my finds and recommendations, and I’ve also asked my very fashionable friend to chime in! Now I want all of their recommendations too!

Let me do a quick introduction to my beautiful and fashionable friends! I’ve met these wonderful ladies through the blog, and it’s been the BEST thing about blogging – finding a community of women who are smart, funny, and understanding. I really love them so much!

This picture was taken in December at a lunch celebration! These friendships are THE BEST part of blogging for sure! From L to R: Mary of So Then They Say, myself, Debby of Fashionomics, Cathy of The Middlepage, Tiffany of Street Style Squad, and Heather of So Heather!

This is my very fashionable friend Erin of Busbee Style. She used to live in San Antonio but moved to Colorado, so we try to take advantage of any time she comes to visit. We took these photos together in Palm Springs during our trip to Alt Summit together. (You can see the original post here.) She is so smart, honest, and I admire her SO MUCH. She used to be a news anchor so her YouTube channel is PHENOMENAL!!!

THE STYLE Rx: You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort! The comfy chic shoe EXISTS!

Alright, here we go! I am going to break it down into categories by dressy (going out OR work) or casual.

DRESSY SHOES

I don’t even remember how I discovered the brand Amina Muaddi, but then I fell for it HARD! These are also an investment shoe (more like a major SPLURGE) but now there are TONS of look for less. The MAIN REASON this shoe is SO COMFORTABLE is the flared heel. Now that I know the “secret”, I search out these types of heels! I have found a sandal version look for less, slip-on look for less, and pump look for less! I am literally OBSESSED with these types of heels because they look chic but I can stand on them all day!

(From Grandma with Love post here)

During my previous quest for the perfect work shoe, I discovered the brand CHIE MIHARA and fell in love. She is a Spain based designer with roots in Japan, FIT, and previous designer for Sam & Libby as well as Charles Jourdan. What I LOVED the most was a unique style and chunky heel of her shoes. They are an investment shoe for sure but have definitely passed the cost-per-wear test. Every time I wear them a pair, I get compliments. The above pictures are from this old blog post but wearing one of my favorite pairs of Chie Mihara sandals. In this blog post (no judging old pics!), I am wearing nude heels that are my favorite work shoes. Recently, I discovered our local Stanley Eisenman Shoes carries that brand which was so exciting to me!

MY FRIENDS’ PICKS

Cathy of The Middlepage loves the Benincasa Milano heels, and she wrote about them in this blog post. I have seen them in person and they are GORGEOUS!

Debby of Fashionomics voted for these clear sandals! She saw them on Heather and me and decided to get them. Now they are some of her favorites and she even found them in the shorter heel which she wears with everything!

Heather of So Heather said her new fave comfy yet chic heels are these Bottega Veneta dupes at a fraction of the price!

Mary of So Then They Say is 8-months pregnant and purchased these bow knot heels for a wedding. She loved them so much that she bought 3 more with the lower heel for Summer! She said to “Trust her!” and I do! I’ve been debating on those heels for about 2 years and now I want them!

Tiffany of Street Style Squad found these Bottega designer “look for less” sandals that come in 2 heel heights (lower heel)!

CASUAL SHOES

MY PICKS

(IG photo from our Spring Break RV trip!)

My most recent comfy chic shoe finds were these Mephisto gold sandals ~ basically almost like a Birkenstock with a wedge heel! They are velcro – yes VELCRO – and so easy to wear! I discovered them when stopping into the Stanley Eisenman at The Shops at Clearfork and purchased them for Spring Break. They were perfect for walking around Austin (pre-quarantine) with the metallic adding a little glam to a very comfy sandal.

Okay now, you can’t make fun of me…. or I guess you can. My solution to the work shoe when I was working at The Methodist Hospital in the Houston Medical Center was the Dansko clog! My friend JoJo wore them under her flare trousers, and I totally copied her. You couldn’t really tell (because of the pants) and they are SO COMFY as long as you get the right size. Normally, I wear size 39 and got the 39 narrows for a great fit. I just threw them away (12 years later) because the heel broke off so I couldn’t even repair it! LOL! Those clogs were lifesavers, and I wore them to work here in Fort Worth with my scrubs. Just sayin’…

Last but not least are my favorite comfy casual shoe category – the sneaker. I’m not really a sneaker gal unless I’m working out! I DO, however, love the “fashion sneaker” with an outfit! I love that this is now a trend since they are comfortable and look cute! My two favorite sneakers are the Adidas Superstars and Golden Goose. The Adidas Superstars have been around FOREVER – I remember loving them back in the “Beastie Boys” days! LOL!

The Golden Goose Deluxe Brand (GGDB) sneakers are a different animal and were introduced to me by Heather and Cathy. I had a gift card to Neiman Marcus and they convinced me to get a pair. There was NO WAY I was going to spend my own $500 on a pair of “distressed” sneakers. In fact when I brought them home, Mr. S told me to return them because they were used! LOL!! And after I started wearing them… I realized what all the hype was! You’ll have to read about Erin’s experience below!

MY FRIENDS’ PICKS

Cathy of The Middlepage loves Uggs, Golden Goose Sneakers, Gucci Princeton Slides, and her new favorite Magnified sandals.

Debby of Fashionomics loves wearing flip flops and these neutral Tory Burch sandals are her go tos. When she is feeling lazy, these are her favorite slip-on shoes and she loves these Adidas sneakers. She also loves this Sam Edelman slide which is a Hermes dupe but the sole is padded and super comfy!! It comes in lots of colors!!

Erin of Busbee Style was in the same boat as me! ~  “I never thought I would buy a pair of Golden Goose sneakers because I mean… $500+ for sneakers???? That’s ridiculous!! And, besides, someone told me they were not that comfortable (one person. Cause of course, you listen to that one person you hardly know). I decided to do a video review for my YouTube channel since they are so popular and ordered a pair. Well, from the second I put them on, I never wanted to take them off! They are SO comfortable out of the box and I really enjoy wearing them. They are worth every dang penny!” You’ll have to check out her YouTube video HERE!

Erin also loves cute and comfy slippers and her Sam Edelman slide sandals which have some support and aren’t “flat” flats. These are like summer house shoes. When life returns to normal, she is a big fan of these See By Chloe wedges that add SO much height (like 5 inches) without sacrificing comfort. They have a bunch of color combinations and they come in a lower wedge version now too.
