Everyone knows about maxi dresses, but I feel like the midi dress is definitely underappreciated! This black midi dress has been a wardrobe staple ever since I opened the box last year. Honestly, I was concerned with the cut of the dress. I thought that the length and lack of waistline would make me look short and squatty. Also, my arms don’t always want to be seen… especially when I’ve been eating a lot of desserts! ;-P
I was pleasantly surprised because the comfort and simplicity surpassed any hesitation about it! If I want waist definition, then just add a belt. Normally, I have to hem all of my maxis or wear the tallest possible wedges, but the midi length is perfect because I can wear flats or wedges. Did I mention it was comfortable? Now, I LOVE that it is sleeveless because it’s great for the hot weather, AND the color goes with everything.
It’s definitely started an addiction to midi dresses. I just purchased this off-the-shoulder midi dress in the blush color. (Actually, I purchased this blush one from Target too, and I’m going to return one of them. And yes, I know that’s a FAIL from my clothing diet.) I’m hoping they may go with my pom pom sandals {last seen here}!
THE STYLE Rx: A midi dress will be your new Summer BFF. It’s easy to wear because you literally just throw it on. Change up the look with different accessories like a wide brim hat, skinny belt, scarf, or tassel necklace. Depending on the cut of the dress, you’ll be able to wear to work with a blazer and heels.
Do you have a midi dress? How do you wear it?
P.S. These outfit pictures were actually taken last June (only 12 months late… not bad, right?!), but Texas weather is getting hotter by the minute… so I feel it’s appropriate for today!
P.P.S. This is the first weekend that we aren’t hosting guests in forever! I don’t know what to do with myself! Just kidding… I’m going to take a looooonnnggg nap and start working on that adoption profile book. Wish me luck!

Love this!! I sort of have a midi dress but I don’t wear it all that often because I feel like they make me look short. Maybe I should try it again!

I actually don’t have a midi dress in my closet—but I’m a believer in variety, so I might have to try one!!

This is lovely on you Sam, and I like the simple tassel necklace with the dress! I find midi lengths make me look short – maxis are my go-to instead :)
Good luck with getting the adoption profile book finished!

[…] It’s super fun to see how we could wear cross-body bags and maxi/midi dresses so differently. (BTW, I just shared my midi dress obsession in this post.) […]
