It all started after Little M was born. I was using a wonderful “treatment” foundation that contained Retinol. After lots of snuggles with my sweet one, I noticed he has some sparkles on him. My foundation was rubbing off on his skin, and I didn’t want to expose him to those chemicals.
I went on a quest to change everything over to natural or organic products. I’m not 100% there but working on it. The skin is the largest organ of your body and absorbs what you put on as well as protects you against all of the environmental pollutants. Why not feed your skin with goodness?
So here are some of my favorites broken down by makeup and skincare.
My skin is combination and sensitive skin. My T-zone gets oily but my cheeks are VERY DRY! Also, I tend to break out quite easily and scar if I get a pimple (even if I don’t mess with it).
Tata Harper ($$$)- I LOVE everything in her skincare arsenal. Here is a post about my morning and night skincare routine. I recently tried the creme riche (AMAZING), illuminating eye cream, and moisturizer (both deluxe sample sizes and will be purchasing full size). Full post coming on those newer items soon.
The Organic Pharmacy ($$$$) – HOW could I resist trying this line with a name like that? I bought the travel sized discovery kit so that I could try everything. The cleanser works wonderfully, and the serum and rose cream are divine, especially the smell. However, it is more expensive and I didn’t feel that it worked better for my skin than Tata Harper.
PURISTY ($$) – You can read more about the parent company, 100% PURE, below. I love the price and simple ingredients of this line. I tried the serum and moisturizer. It’s perfect for me in Summer, but I need more for my skin during the colder weather. The price is really fantastic.
ACURE ORGANICS ($) – I discovered this brand while grocery shopping at Central Market and now I’ve seen it at Target too. It was started by the founder in honor of her grandmother who battled breast cancer for 10 years. At the time, I switched over to TH because I needed more anti-aging products. The price is AMAZING.
100% PURE ($$) – The name describes it perfectly! It is my hands-down favorite clean makeup line. When you read the ingredients, you can understand exactly what’s in each product. I wear their bamboo foundation, eyeshadow palette, bronzer, highlighter, and even nail polish.
W3LL PEOPLE ($$) – I discovered this brand during a trip to Austin, and have loved EVERY SINGLE item I’ve tried (foundation stick, concealer, multi-use stick, eyeliner) including their mascara. (I want natural makeup but like my lashes to be really full and voluminous. Expressionist mascara is great, but I still haven’t found a replacement for my favorite dirty mascara from Chanel.)
PACIFICA BEAUTY ($) – It’s technically vegan makeup and another grocery store find thanks to Whole Foods! I got their solar palette and love the eyeshadows, bronzers, and highlighters. I’ve tried their various mascaras, but again, I want MORE DRAMA!
Hope this helps and I’ll add, delete, and change this page as I discover more products. Let me know if you have any questions!
