Winter Florals // Edgy

Happy Monday!  We’re back in Texas, and I’m getting ready to head to New York tomorrow!!    IFB Conference, Fashion Week, and Family here I come!
This is a two part post because I’m showing you the sassy and then the sweet way to wear winter florals.  A lot of y’all know that I’m somewhat of a girlie girl and LOVE hearts, bows, flowers, and such.  Well, sometimes a girlie girl wants to feel like a kick a$$ rocker when wearing an ultra feminine summer dress right?!

Style of Sam, JCrew Ella dress, Elizabeth and James leather blazer, Bottega Venetta suede booties, Karen Walker number one sunglasses, Chanel soft and chain flap, Tom Ford aphrodisiac lipstick, outrage fashion emerald necklace

And why not wear bright florals in the winter!  Remember those J.Crew summer dresses that I got on sale awhile back {seen here and here}?  I told you I would them later.  Today’s ensemble is a little bit edgy – whoa, gettin’ kinda crazy here!  {Don’t worry, Part II is the girlie version!}  Whenever I want to toughen up a look, I alway think leather + booties.  Is that too cliche?

The Style Rx:  Pair a leather jacket, tights, and booties with a summer dress to winterize it.  Bonus points if you walk around with some attitude to sell the bad a$$ look! Ha!

*My cousin found that Elizabeth & James blazer at TJ Maxx and nabbed it for me on clearance! The booties were found on sale at Last Call!

P.S.  Don’t you love Mary’s style?  Hope you had a chance to check out her blog over the weekend!
P.P.S.  I’ll be posting a recap of IFB Conference and Fashion Week events next week, but you can follow my adventures through facebook, twitter, or instagram!
Full Disclosure:  The erin necklace was sent to me complimentary of Outrage Fashion.  In my usual fashion, I chose the outfit around the necklace!  Hey, emerald IS the pantone color of the year!

  2. What a fabulous mix of girly and edgy! I definitely have a feminine style too, but I totally know what you mean by wanting to look a little edgy sometimes. I hope you have a blast in NYC. I was hoping to attend this season, but looks like I’ll have to wait for September.

  3. I like the idea of the summer floral with the leather, but I think I’d need another layer over the dress – just seeing that strapless dress with only a leather jacket is making me feel cold!

  4. Perfect look!! I love how you paired the spring dress with the blacks to make it fit into winter like a glove :) No pun intended! Xo

  5. Love the way you’ve combined the sweet dress with sassy and edgy accessories. You always look so well put together! I hope you have a fantastic time in NYC :D

  6. I want long wavy hair like you so it can blow in the wind. I love the addition of edgy to that girly. Also, does “finding designer steals” run in your family? :)

Have a wonderful trip to NY, Sam!

  7. I love that your cousin picked up that blazer for you! Isn’t it the best when family/friends know your style and shop for you? The blazer looks great paired with that dress! I want to wear that!!

  8. Love, love love this outfit! I’m such a huge fan of chunky jewellery and I love bold statement pieces like the ones you’re sporting here. I also like anything with a floral pattern, and think it’s great you’ve made it look that bit more edgy with a cool leather jacket. I recently bought a really nice illustrative tee from iron fist clothing and I’ll be jazzing it up with a few accessories. Please check it out and tell me what you think if you can! http://www.rebelstateclothing.com/Product-990/Iron-Fist-Clothing/T-Shirts/Iron-Fist-Dont-Cross-Me-Button-Up-Top
